It is risky to do that ,but it can be done. This is not recommended without an Oscilloscope.

SOURCE: My JL audio 1000/1 amp does not work

Best bet is to send it back to JL, they do not sell the PCB with all of the components loaded on it. Most likely the transistors in the power supply have fried. Open it up and see if you can find any physical damage. Google the part numbers of the bad parts, and you should be able to fix it relatively easily. www.digikey.com is a great place for parts. Read this for more testing procedure: http://www.bcae1.com/ampfail.htm The whole site is wonderful, really.

SOURCE: JL audio hook up problems!!??

your w7 13's are dual 1.5 Ohm, but according to JL website, are 2.41 Ohms when the coils are in series. Each 13 connceted to each amp with voice coils in series is your best bet. The amps are designed to put out the same amount of power from 1.5 to 4 Ohms. If you parallel the voice coils, you end up with .6 Ohms and the amp will go into protect mode. You'll be drawing a lot of current, so you may want to think about 1/0 guage power wire, upgrade the wire from the alternator to battery (usually only 8 guage) and think about multiple batteries.

SOURCE: 500/1 settings to run jl13w6 v2 d-4

Just had a look at both amp and sub on the JL Audio website. The amp runs from 1.5-4ohms. 4ohms at 14.5V. The sub is running dual 4 ohms coils. That's what the D-4 means. So should be an easy set up. The amp has two mono outputs, so one for each coil. It looks like the perfect wattage to run the sub real nice.

SOURCE: jl 1000\1 v2 and 13 w7

it depends on how you wired your 13 w7 did you wire the dual voice coils up or down?? the w7 comes with a book and it has the 1000/1 settings you need and then there is a guide that comes with your 1000/1 v2 and on page 14 it tells you how to set the gain accordingly to your ohm load for perfect sounds with little to no gain overlap (you can set the gain louder if you don't want maximum sq and are not worried about clipping cause a 1000/1 shouldn't blow a 13 w7 from overpowering only from clipping (and since the w7 are practically bullet proof clipping takes a long time)

How do you wire two dvc 4 ohm ma1500xl speakers to a jl audio 1000/1 amp

series/parallel - the JL amp is regulated, so you get 1000watts rms at 4ohm, 2ohm, and 1.5 ohm.

JL Audio 1000/1 v2 distortion problem

Make sure all your connections are tight , really tight . Check ground , make sure it's to clean shiney metal. Three subs are going to have a low ohm load if paralleled . These amps are not 1 ohm stable ,if below 1.5 ohm's you will have problems. They need to be series paralleled to raise the ohm load. These amps put out the same power from 4 to 1.5 ohms.

Can i run a 4ohm.dvc & a 3ohm.svc off of a mtx te 801d

if you wire the 4 ohm sub voice coils in parallel you will have a 2 ohm load for the Image Dynamics sub, the JL sub only being single voice coil will of course be 3 ohm.
You cannot connect them both to the amp you specified as when connected the total load will be less than 2ohms and the amp will either trip it's protection circuit or could damage the amp, My suggestion is to try each sub separately and decide on the one you like the most or obtain a matching pair for the 4ohm DVC.

What way should I hook 2 12" jl audio to a jl audio 1000/1

Is this sub an svc or a dvc? From what I looked up they are svc, so each sub's voicecoil is 3 OHMS, connecting them in parallel would lower them to 1.5, and your amp is capable of going down to 1.5 ohms. So I would suggest running them in parallel.

Speakers wired in parallel
Recommended Amplifier: Stable at 2 or 1 ohm mono 2_4ohm_svc_2ohm.gif
(Although from the information I gathered these subs have 3 OHM voicecoils, so in the diagram where is says 4 OHM it should say 3 OHM, and the 2 OHM should say 1.5 OHMS.

This is a good site to help calculate OHMS: http://www.bcae1.com/spkrmlti.htm

Hope this helps.

Who to wire JL audio 12w6 to its max

Hello shermalestuc,

The JL Audio 12w6 v2-D4 has dual 4 ohm voice coils that can be wired for either a final load to the amp of 2 ohms (parallel) or 8 ohms (series).

If your amp is 2 ohm stable, the best power solution for a single sub is to use the parallel configuration, both positives and both negatives together and then to the amp.

I HAVE A JL AUDIO MONOBLOCK AMP 250

there could b allot of factors involving this problem first could and most important is to make sure theres no loose connections in your wiring and find out how ur subs are wired in. are they SVC or DVC (single and duel voice coils) also what are theyre impedences if SVC could be 2, 4, or 8 also the same as DVC but jus 2 sets of terminals. find out first then the reason i ask is cause allot of half way manufactures are installing a device u could say that will cause amps to automatically cut off when the load on the amp reaches its lowest impedence load so when ur subs are moving in and out that load varies with how far the sub is extending out jus cause a sub say its a 4 ohm SVC doesnt mean that when its pounding away the load may actually be 3 ohm when fully extended. find out these variables first and then reply and ill let u know what to do properly.

Speaker connections

This is a single channel amp that puts out about the same power at 4 Ohms or 2 Ohms. If you have two 4 Ohm single voice coil subs, then wire them parallel (both pos and both neg) to achieve 2 ohms. If you have two dual 4 Ohm voive coils, you want to do a series - parallel config to get to 4 Ohms (voice coils in series, then parallel the subs). Same with DVC 2 Ohm subs, series parallel = 2 Ohms. Do NOT go below two Ohms. You will blow the amp (actually, it'll do 1.5 Ohms). If you happen to have 2 Ohm single voice coil subs (not as likely) run them in series. Most amps will put out about twice as much power at 2 Ohms vs. 4, but this amp is designed to put out about the same. Hope this helps!
