Sounds like a small control board may have died, more specifically, a failed capacitor or such. These motors has plastic gears...gears may be or is getting bad.

Need a new elevation motor 1-888-308-9620

1) replace new batteries with the same type, and o.k polarity.
2) clean the contacts batteries with c.cleaner and retight the spring with plier for a GOOD contact.
3) adjust the REED swtich, test it , clean it and tight the plugs
4) tight the ribbon cable inside for a good contacts keypads.

I'm having the same problem with my Audiostrider 800. Fan works, screen and soft buttons do nothing.
I dont mean to sound dumb, but where are these motor brushes? Are they attached to the resistance motor or somewhere else? What exactly am I looking for?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
