at this point you're better off getting a new xbox, I've had this happen to two different ones. there is a really complicated way to fix it, but it's not worth it. they are designed not to be fixed at home. The eye is bad and needs to be readjusted. you can take it to a local shop to do it for about $60. you can do it yourself but, you need a voltage meter and a tiny screw driver and patience. there are videos on youtube that describes how to fix it.
Try cleaning the disk, if that doesn't work, try another disk, if that doesn't work, then turn the xbox off, take the hard drive out, put it back in, then try playing the game again.
The blinking green light is because your 360 is not understanding that the disc tray is closed. That's also the reason that the tray comes back open. It's not getting fully closed. Next time you insert a game push the drive closed with your hand. You'll know the drive is closed when the light stops blinking.
If you still have a warrenty sticker call up Microsoft and tell them that your Xbox 360 has overheated, and tell them your serial code. They will tell you if your warrenty is expired, if it's not they will ask you where you live then pick up your Xbox 360 and fix it for free. If your warrenty has expired try this. Power off the Xbox 360 and when it is off press the eject button, it might open they tray. Or try opening your Xbox 360 and remove the disk drives cables from the disk drive and the motherboard and put it back together, you should never try the towel trick really, although it works it can also give your Xbox 360 3 red lights then you have to buy X-clamps and theormo paste, just do the X-clamps and theormo paste when you get one red light. I have had two Xbox 360's, when I did the towel trick it burnt the GPU, the other one a little componante came loose, sorry for my spelling. Hope this helps =D
You may need a new drive, but I doubt it. After you get the Xbox open, peel off the silver tape thats on the bottom front of the DVD player, unplug the 2 connections, and lift it out. Turn the player upside down and remove the 4 screws, flip it back over and make sure that the try is lined up correctly with the mechinism.
