Whatever you do dont push the pedal to th floor on fuel injected motors, you will do nothing but harm to your vehicle very dangerous as each time you mash pedal to floor gas will dump in the intake, and lay at the bottom and not burn time and time again till one time you blow out your intake, never push the pedal down and turn key on fuel injection, crbed motors are different than injected motors, hope this helps.

2008 Ford Focus, depressing accelerator is slow to react...

Connecting a pro grade scan tool computer will tell you the DTC Code and that tells you what the problem is and how to fix it. The 'Wrench Light', properly the 'Engine Malfunction Light' is there to tell you that you have a problem and the scan tool tells you what it is?

High revs in park and neutral

What is the car? This sounds like it could be a throttle position sensor, (TPS). This monitors how hard you are pressing the gas pedal and if it is faulty it won't be reading the pedal movement correctly. Other symptoms are uneven idle and the acceleration isn't smooth or even.

I was told my linkage cable between the steering column and transmission might be the reason my van won't accelerate

linkage cable only changes ratio selections
if it is faulty , it will be stuck in one gear
the reason it is not accelerating is because the accelerator pedal and the throttle control are not communicating with each other
run the fault codes to check which sensor is faulty or if any other sensor is responsible

Gas pedal wont go down once in gear

I would check a few things. first the engine mounts. make sure the engine isn't rocking over. second cruise control ? if it has cruise control I would unhook the cable to the throttle from the cruise control and see if that was the issue. some times the control box will pull in deceleration mode and stick there. also the decelerator valve on the throttle body may be defective.

I have p0700 and p0705 codes, p0455, p1125, and p2125 and p2138 codes

P0700

The transmission of a vehicle which has suffered a transmission problem will send the P0700 code to the vehicle engine control module (ECM)

P0705 Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Possible causes

- Open or short park/neutral position switch circuit
- Poor park/neutral position switch circuit connection
- Misadjusted park/neutral position switch
- Park/neutral position switch may be faulty

P0455. A code p0455 most likely means one or more of the following has happened:

A loose or improperly affixed gas cap

A non-conforming gas cap (i.e. not factory/original brand)

Other leak or damaged piece in EVAP system

P1125 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) System

P2125 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "E" Circuit

P2138 Throttle possition sensor
