Hunting for door gasket/seal replacement.

I love this fridge, 970-618240 works awesome. It deserves repair/replacement parts, so want to exhaust all avenues. I can't seem to find help in locating a gasket/seal only failed searches. If I measure the existing gasket/seal, look for kenmore brand, are they universal?

Hi Vince,

Thanks for the posting in FIXYA.

Please repair the Freezer door as it is not sealing, due to which cooling is affected. If it is under warranty then contact to the manufacturer as soon as possible.

Can I replace the door seal on my Whirlpool Integrated Microwave?

Gaskets are available, but with all microwave repairs, I would recommend using a repair technician unless you are confident of doing it properly. The door should be checked after all repairs for microwave leakage.

Replaced freezer gaskets now not sealing well

Jay, Check to see if hinge can be adjusted so door closes tighter, may be a faulty door seal, or maybe it needs manipulated to soften, shape, stretch it to seal better. You can try the dollar bill trick between the seal and fridge to locate the problem/leaking spots. The bill should not pull out with out there being a little force, no force means seal is not proper in that area. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Rubber seal around fridge door twisted.can it be replaced

Michael,
Yes, you can replace the gasket around your fridge door. If you put your make and model in, they did not come through to our screen, so we do not know what brand or model you have. There are several websites online that you can order parts from and I would suggest checking prices on those and check with a local repair parts place if you have one near to see how they compare with the online places.

Hi, I think the seal is damaged on my fridge freezer. It is a CB18m/1c/fan whirlpool fridge freezer. Where do i look for a replacement seal? Thank you

Is a package/or a shelf blocking the door? If a gasket is required & damaged it would be noticeably different than the look of the rest of the gasket. The door originally was held straight by the screws behind the gasket & a undamaged door liner(cracked with weight of packages will cause it to twist), if it is twisted than it can be realigned by twisting it straight & may have to loosen the screws a little first & then snug them back up after it has been twisted straight. Gaskets generally have a flat magnet in them to pull the door up to the body of the fridge & with a model number(or take the gasket to them is the worse scenario) can be obtained from a Major appliance store or they can order it.

Model# RT18DKXEW05 parts

Repair clinic has booth door gaskets
the refrigerator gasket is $91.60
The freezer door gasket is $72.95

If the unit is working good it might be worth it to replace the gaskets if unit is in good shape and you only need one of the 2 gaskets I would replace it. if needs both you need to see what a replacement unit costs and make a decision

Amana TH18v2wReplace door seal

Changing a door gasket on a fridge is one of the most aggravating repairs in my opinion. The best advice I can give on this is make sure you take the door off, do not remove the screws all the way, just loosen then as needed, and heat the new gasket to make it pliable when you put it on the door. Hopefully you machine is one of the ones that has a magnetic gasket so you can just peel the old on off and throw the new one on without a problem.

The seal in the doors are ripped causing not to seal tight causing condensation inside frig

new gaskets are expensive to replace (usually $80-150 each door) if this sounds reasonable to you call for service, however if this happens to be a spare fridge or in a location where it is not seen you can repair the gaskets with duct tape. it doesn't look the greatest but it works and its cheap! run the tape longways with the gasket and make sure its smooth and the same shape as the gasket originally.

My Kenmore frig/freezer's shelf continually has a sheet of ice.

I was told to check the doors gaskets when buying a fridge. The gasket must seal all around. Check by using a dollar bill. The dollar bill when placed anywhere along the door gasket must be held tight when the door is closed, it is held when you try to skip the bill off. If the bill is not held, the gasket is defective. This means there must not be any gaps letting air into the fridge.
A thin coat of ice means air is going into the fridge and moisture in the air freezing into ice.
Some doors flex and warp causing a bad gasket seal, or the gallery is bad. Just one probable cause for icing in the fridge
