Husqvarna yth2448 pto switch kills motor/battery will not charge

My battery died with no warning and now it will not charge at all.I can jumpstart it,pull the pto switch and sometimes blades wil start turning and sometimes they won't.If they do turn,it only lasts a few minutes and all at once they just stop turning as if you disengaged them, then if i don't disengage the pto,it kills the engine. The blades and pulleys, etc are not in a bind or anything and turn freely. But if the blades don't turn when you engage the pto,the engine will stop as if you had turned off the ignition. If they do happen to start turning,it will only last a few minutes. The electric pto clutch is kicking in because with the pto switch engaged i can turn the ignition as if i were trying to start it and you can here the clutch click.Of course i know the engine wont start with the pto engaged.I tried turning the ignition on with the pto switch pulled up just to see if the clutch would click. Also,as i said, the battery isn't charging whatsoever.Could this all boil down to a bad alternator?

You may hav a bad alt. problem with the mower dying when you engage the pto is most likley a bad sensor or wire unplugged on the seat sensor.the way it works is if the blades are turning and it dosent sense you being on the seat the mower shuts down.this has been standard on mowers for quite a few years now. it keeps the blades from cutting you up if you fall off the seat while mowing. as for charging i would try cleaning the battery connections and get the battery checked first.

Normal charging circuit is alternator to regulator, to ignition switch, to ammeter (if equipped), to fuse to battery.

First thing I would check is the condition of the + battery terminal. (If it's corroded, difficult to take charge.) Also take a look at the terminal where the "-" cable connects to the tractor frame. Then check the in-line fuse.

The ignition switch could be going bad (older tractors), or possibly bad wiring. Do a visual check.

On the ignition switch, terminal "A" runs to the alternator, "B" to battery.

When you inguage the ele pto it kill the engine whats the problem?

It could be a number of different things.
The starter switch has 2 different positions for safety. One will kill the engine while backing.
Have you tried engaging it with the switch in both positions? I would check that first.
If it doesn't kill the engine while in the safety bypass mode for backing, it would probably be a bad or stuck limit switch on the reverse linkage.

Husqvarna yth1848xp wont turn over

Are you getting 12 volts to the starter? It sounds like one of the safety switches (seat switch) may be killing the circuit. The seat switch cannot simply be jumped. And check the 20 amp fuse.

Husqvarna yth2148 mower dies when clutch is released or deck is engaged. has new seat switch, clutch switch and pto switch whats my solution

Has the belt been replaced recently? A two small belt with kill the motor due to too much tension on the driveshaft. Also make sure blades spin relatively well. I'd be looking for excess tension.

Motor stalls when PTO engaged

its ether the regulator or the stator in the engineas for as the pto killing the engine it might only need a govenor adjustment to take care of that problem

check the belt as it bound, if you do not think so then take it off(the belt) and engage the PTO if it does not die then it is: the belt, pulley, or blades are/is the reason why it is stalling Tim

Husqvarna Mdl YTH2448 Riding Mower - Electric PTO Not Working

It sounds like your charge system is not working. If you jump the battery the engine will run with a weak battery but the pto clutch needs a strong battery to stay engaged.Try this to test it,after you jump it leav the jumper cables hooked up and try to engage the blade clutch,if it runs it is either a battery that wont take a charge or a charge system not working. If you put a volt meter on the battery while the engine is running and the voltage is 13 volts the charge system is working and the battery is bad.

Husqvarna 2448 pto switch kills engine, bldes

try unplugging the pto, start the mower, then engage the pto switch. If the fuse still blows trouble is somewhere in the mowers wiring if not the ploblem lies in the pto. hope this helps
