Sounds like the proximity sensor. The phone has a sensor that attempts to determine if the phone is up to your ear, and then shuts the screen when it is to save battery. However, if you have a screen protector of any sort it can block the sensor, making the phone think it is up to your ear once you place the call.
Easiest way to test this is to disable the proximity sensor then place a call. If the screen does not instantly go black after you place the call, then you know for sure something is blocking it. If you have a screen protector, try removing that.
You need to disable the proximity sensor. The use of the proximity sensor is to detect if the phone is up to your ear during a call, to turn the screen off. However if there is debris on the sensor or even a screen protector over it, it constantly thinks it is up to your ear, hence blacking out the second you make a phone call.
You can go into settings and call settings to disable the proximity sensor.
Sounds like a battery issue. Make sure your battery is charged. If it still does that, you can try to reset the iPAD back to factory settings if it will stay on long enough. Google for iPAD reset.
I have a fusion2 and it does the same thing. I think they suppose to work like that. You can set your screen to stay on longer by going to display. I hope this help.
Hi, it is not normal for a phone screen to be stay black. When a phone screen goes black that means the screen of the phone might have shifted inside and will need to be adjusted or the screen might be damaged.
Would advice you not to tamper with the phone yet, since it's a new phone and am sure it has guarantee on it. You can take it back for replacement at the store you bought it from.
This happened to me and I was able to fix it. I cracked it opened and found a bad capacitor, bought a replacement at Radio Shack and I'm back in business. Actually using it right now to post this.
