Safety sensors are not aligned, or one of the wires to one of the sensors is broken or unattached, or sensor wires to the unit are broken or unattached. door will always open without sensors being correct, but will not close. try pushing and holding wall button and see if door will close, if yes, then it is the sensor wiring or sensors

My Craftsman Garage 1/3 HP hbw0777 door opener suddenly won't close after my wife hit the remote a few times as she was trying to open the other door...

Observe the green receiver sensor while the door travels. If it blinks, then likely the optical sensor is causing the door to return to open and flash for 5 seconds. This could be caused by poor sensor alignment or a loose track or loose sensor mount or poor wire splice if not a single length.

You can check receiver sensor alignment by slowly moving your hand, open palm, towards the center of the receiver blocking the transmitter emitter mounted to the opposite track.

Check in two axis, front-back and top-bottom. If aligned properly, the green lamp will turn off as your hand reaches near equadistance to center of the receiver regardless of direction.

I have a liftmaster Model 1240. Door will open by remote or wall opener. The door will only close while holding wall opener button down. If i try and close via remote, light starts blinking and door...

The only thing that will cause the main light to flash 10 times and the door to reverse to the open position is a sensor problem. Make sure the light on each sensor is on and not flickering ever so slightly. Make sure they are not moving when the door starts to close. Lights on sensors should not blink. One light should stay on constantly and the other sensors light should go off when you block the sensors.

Anytime the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem. If the transmitting sensor light is blinking it is bad.

Door opens, when closing stops immediately but there is nothing blocking the safety light and lights are green. I can hold the button and door will close but as soon as i release the button it opens again.

Check your door sensors closely. Sometimes one will be off just a bit and the light will be on but blinking ever so slightly. If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is definitely a door sensor problem. Nothing else will cause that.

Door won't stay closed, then opens only partially.

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem. Each sensor has a small light that must be on and not blinking for them to work properly. If one of them is not on tweak them a bit to make sure they are pointed at one another.

The stopping about 1/3 of the way up is either a broken door spring, a main drive gear that is going bad or an adjustment to the 'up force'. The 'up force' control is on the back of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Increase it a bit. It will sometimes compensate for a gear that is going bad but if this is the case it will start doing the same thing soon.

Door won't close, blinks 10 times, sensor light yellow

Anytime the main light flashes 10 times and the door reverses to the open position it is a door sensor problem or the wiring to them. Nothing else causes this symptom.

Door won't close, with out hold down on button.

If the main light flashes 10 times when the door reverses it is a door sensor problem. Make sure they are pointed at one another and the small light on each one is lit and not blinking.

Craftsman GDO reverses itself when the door reaches the eyes

The only thing that will cause the main light to blink 10 times is a sensor problem. Sometimes the sensors will be misaligned just enough to turn the light on but will not work properly. If you look really close (on your knees) you can see the receiving sensor blinking ever so slightly. Tweak the sensors until the light glows constant.
