Onkio TX-SR500 don't leave stand-by

Hello Anthony, try your Onkio, with other sources of sound, example DVD or CD and check that the sound is clean and shows no error
Then, look for another player with Blue Tooth connection and try, if you have the same error, you may have to update the Firmware
You go on the Onkio page and you search in downloads and by type of equipment and model, then you download it in an empty Pen Drive, without any file type, then you place it in the Onkio and download it
If this does not correct the fault, I suggest you look for a specialized technical service

Hola Anthony, prueba tu Onkio, con otras fuentes de sonido, ejemplo DVD o CD y comprueba que el sonido sea limpio y no muestre error
Luego, busca otro reproductor con conexi?n de Blue Tooth y prueba, si tienes el mismo error, puede ser que tengas que actualizar el Firmware
Entras en la pagina de Onkio y buscas en descargas y por tipo de equipo y modelo, luego lo descargas en un Pen Drive vaci?, sin ning?n tipo de archivo, luego lo colocas en el Onkio y lo descargas
Si as? no se corrige la falla, te sugiero busques un servicio t?cnico especializado

And you don't think the speakers are wired wrong. Re-investigate or reposition the speakers you THINK are Front to the Rear and go on from there.

This is most likely a "protect" mode. A problem has been detected and the unit shuts down to prevent further damage. The most common cause of this are defective output transistors. Plan on a parts cost of $25-$40 for this repair.

This indicates that the system is going into protect mode. First disconnect all speaker wires (with the power cable disconnected). Then turn the unit on and see if it sill shuts aff ofter a few seconds. If it does not, then you have a problem with the speakers or speaker wires. inspect the wires at both ends for frayed strands that may touch. If that all lookd good, plu the speakers in, one at a time, until the problem reappears. Be sure to turn the sytem off before plugging in any speaker just to prevent any accidental short which could be catastrophic. If the system goes into protect mode with all speakers disconnected, you probably have a shorted output transistor.

You should be able to pick any open audio device unless it says pre-amp only. If your manual shows a connection for a CD player or similar device it should support the cable box.

It may be your amplifier protection circuitry is being activated and shutting down automatically. This is usually caused by a faulty output transistor in one or more of the channels. I recently repaired my Onkyo TX-SR500 which had this problem.
Using a multimeter on ohms check between C and E on each of the ten output transistors. I found Q6051 and Q6061 to be short cct on all pins. Once you have located the faulty channels check the adjacent components for open or short cct.

I replaced the following components,
Q6051 (2SD1047)
Q6061 (2SB817)
R6091 (2.2ohm fusible)
R6081 (2.2ohm fusible)
R6101 2x 0.22ohm 2W
Q6031 (2SD2061)

The amplifier now works perfectly, cost of the parts is about $15-$20.
If you don't feel confident doing this yourself just find a friend or tech who can do it for you.

Turning any receiver off will erase the settings - there is no backup battery (Onkyo uses Battery Free Memory Backup) and the length of time depends on the capacitor charge. Why not just leave the receiver plugged in? Stand-by mode uses a negligible amount of power - enough to keep the capacitors charged and the LED on the front panel on.

I just read over the problem you were having with your Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver. It sound like the unit needs to be setup for all five channels.Sence your symptom says the diplay shows Dolby D3/2.1. According to the owners manual with the remote control look for speaker setup whin the button is pressed the current speaker setup will be shown in the display. Press the preset/adjustment<> to change the current setting to five speakers. the listening mode will automatically change according to the number of channels you selected. Hope this helps. Radiotech
