When I turn it on. I exit the menu and within a second or two it switches back to the Menu screen. If I try to adjust any thing using the menu, it reverts to the main menu.....
It's a common software problem with the Philips TVs. You'll have to download the latest software upgrade to fix the problem. Go to Philips.com/support to find the software for your TV. You'll need a USB memory stick to do the procedure followed on the web site.
It's possible that the file needs to be "unzipped" before downloading on the memory stick.
Most times when you download a file off the internet, the file is "zipped" ( compressed file ).
Try downloading to the desktop, then unzipped the file, then download the unzipped file to the memory stick. Just make sure there is only the one unzipped file on the memory stick and nothing else. It should work after that.

It's possible that the software provided was listed wrong on the web site and wasn't compatible with your TV. Philips should have a compatible software for your TV.
I would call up the support hotline listed on the Philips web site and see if they can find the correct one for you.

I've downloaded the software update, and put it on a memory stick. When I insert the stick and try to install the software, following the direction, the tv doesn't recognize that there is any software to be installed... I've tried it several times
PS> I've tried 2 different memory sticks which have worked with other software.
I did unzip the file. twice. I tried downloading and unzipping two different times, same result. I've about given up.
