Mother board problem

I have a gateway laptop and a while back i went to turn it on and it wouldnt turn on ..i took it apart and on the mother board there is a transistor that was completely blown off the board ..i traced the circuit and it looks like it controls on/off power to the mother board from the battery. I wanted to change the transistor but because it was blown off the board i dont know the number on it . is there somewhere i can get info on this ? why can i find another mother board??. I have all the numbers from the motherboard. I also believe that the battery was the initial probly or possibly the charging circuit

Go to ebay,if it's not there....you may be out of luck. Did you try gateway? I didn't look it up but they may still service that board.

Bad motherboard or power supply which fries motherboard

Gateway hasn't had any recalls on it that I know of. maybe it is not the mother board. It might be the hard drive. Hard drives can do that aswell. When I fix a computer the first thing I check is the hard drive. A little bit of advice with computers. Start with the small things first and work Your way up to the big stuff. Hope that helps.

MY GATEWAY LAPTOP SCREEN WENT BLACK AFTER 20 MIN OR MORE

I'm betting that you need a new "Inverter" board, especially if it's a Gateway 450ROG.
There is an inverter that Gateway used in several models that has a known defect.
Inverters are relatively inexpensive ,and easy to replace. You could ven do it yourself if you have a little skill at disassembly / re-assembly. Tell me the model number of your laptop and I can help you more

Mother Board Gateway MX6958

In order to help you I will need you to take the laptop completley apart and get the model number off the bottom of the motherboard. it will say either intel than numbers and letter or asus than numbers or letters. but we need the model number of your motherboard so we can get you the part number. Or can you give me the serial number off the bottom of the laptop and i can try to look up your information that way and get you the information you need to get the board.

Wont turn on

All PSU's have a RED switch on the back make sure it is set to 115V. Connecting the case back to the mobo is described in the manual. If you do not have the manual you can connect with Gatway through online chat at: http://support.gateway.com/support/contact/chat.shtml
