Sub stopped working, except a chirping noise every 2 seconds. Amp lightening bolt light also flashing.

Unplugged audio cords, still doing same thing. Ground is good, power wire is good, and remote wire is not shorted anywhere. Been working the past year with no problems. Also sub works when I tested in my house.

SOURCE: Cant figure out my car audio problems!!!!!

There are a couple of tests you can perform. I'd first recommend checking the shield ground. You'll need an ohm meter. The details can be found on the following page.

RCA shield ground test

You can also test the output with the multimeter. Set the multimeter to AC volts. If it's not an auto-ranging meter, set it to a voltage range of ~2v AC. Disconnect the RCA cables from the head unit. Touch one meter probe to the outer ring of the head unit's RCA jack. Touch the other probe to the metal contact in the center of the RCA jack. With the head unit near full volume and a clean signal source, you should read at least one volt on musical peaks. If you have a bass disc or a test tone disc (~60hz sine wave), use those.

Have you tried another pair of RCA's? Sounds like you have a bad pair of them.

SOURCE: mtx 1000xd led light is flashing and the subs will not work

The light flashing usually means there is a short somewhere. Check your wires to make sure there are no slices and are touching. Also check to make sure you have your remote wire hooked up.

THE AMPLIFIER NEEDS A 1 OHM LOAD AND YOU HAVE THE RIGHT SPEAKER TO PROVIDE THIS LOAD. THE AMPLIFIERS TERMINAL STRIP PROVIDES YOU WITH 2 POSITIVES AND 2 NEGATIVES, BUT THEY ARE ONLY FOR CONVENIENCE WHEN WIRING 2 DRIVERS. ACTUALLY THE 2 POSITIVES ARE THE SAME CONNECTION INTERNALLY ON THE BOARD, AS WELL AS THE 2 NEGATIVES. THAT BEING SAID, THE SIMPLEST WAY TO CONNECT YOUR SPEAKER IS TO PARALLEL THE VOICECOILS IN THE BOX BY CONNECTING THE 2 POS. TOGETHER AND THE 2 NEG. TOGETHER THEN RUN THAT POS. AND NEG. OUT OF THE BOX AND SIMPLY CHOOSE EITHER OF THE 2 POS AND NEG. OF YOUR CHOICE AT THE AMP. IF YOU EVER HAVE TO ADD A SUB, THEN YOU WILL HAVE 2 MORE TERMINAL LEFT OVER ON THE AMP. TO CONNECT IT TO AT THAT TIME. BY ALL MEANS, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO RUN EACH COIL SEPARATELY OUT OF THE BOX AND CONNECT THEM TO ALL 4 TERMINALS, THEN THIS IS FINE TOO, AS EITHER WAY, THERE WILL BE NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER. LET ME KNOW IF I CAN BE OF FURTHER ASSISTANCE....V

Sub woofer automatically turns off when playing

Could be a number of things. First try another sub, your current sub could have a problem. Second could be to low ohms going to the amp. Is it a new install or was your current setup playing fine then your current problem happened. I need to know what kind of amp and sub and how do you have it hooked up. If it's a 2 channel amp and your running it bridge mode then the amp needs 4 ohm sub hooked up unless specified that it can except a lower ohms. Could be a voltage problem as well. You can contact me at [email protected] let me know if this helps.

The amp doesn't output anything. When it is turned on the power light, left signal, and left clip light light up immediately. A few seconds later both Fault lights light up. I unplugged ever thing...

What is the make and model, it sounds like its going into overload protection, if the speakers aren't hooked up you have some bad components in the output section.

I have 2 amps instalkled in my car one is sony 1200w 2 channel amp for speakers and one is solid audio f2500d for 3 subs my sound and every thing was good but suddenly from yesterday im having trouble when...

First disconnect the CD head unit from the sub amp and see if the other amp works. If yes, the problem is the wires to the amp, the amp itself, or the subs/sub wiring. If no, the problem is the head unit--probably an internal short.
If the other amp works with the sub amp disconnected, reconnect the sub amp to the head unit, but disconnect the sub wires from the amp. Try the CD player. If the amp goes to protect with no speaker wires attached, the amp is bad. If the amp is OK, the problem is the subs or sub wires. Hook the wires up to the amp again, but disconnect them from the speakers. Try the player again. If the amp goes to protect, the problem is the amp wiring. If not, the problem is the subs. Check the impedance of each sub using an ohmmeter to determine which amp is out of spec.
Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using Fixya.

I bought a new Keyless remote for a 2007 Forester from a Subaru Dealer to replace an original one that went bad after 2 years. I have followed the directions in the owner's manual to program it, but can't...

IMPREZA: 2005, 2006, 2007 and
FORESTER: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008
Check for Immobilizer key on Forester XT models only.
information is always subject to change and correction imp05keylessremote1.jpg
new remote for 2005 Imprezas.
This is not the same remote as the 05 Legacy/Outback remote which also has truck/gate release on the front and a red panic button on the back.
Lock: press Lock button for 2 seconds or so to lock car, and arm optional security system. The car with chirp once and turn signals flash for locked, 5 short chirps and signal flashes if any door is not fully closed. The dome light goes on for 15 seconds and ignition key ring (if present) will light for 30 seconds when unlocked.
Unlock: press unlock one time for driver's door, press again within 5 seconds to unlock all doors inkling rear gate (wagon). The system does not open the trunk.
Panic mode: press and hold lock button for approx. 3-4 seconds to activate Panic mode. I panic model the horn honks and turn signals flash until either the lock or unlock button is pushed again.
Finder mode: Press lock button 3 times within 5 seconds to activate Vehicle Finder mode. The horn will honk once and the turn signals will flash 3 times
Distance: works within approx. 30 feet depending on battery strength, nearby concrete walls and etc.
Audible Chirp On-Off: the system will chirp when locked or unlocked. To turn OFF the chirps, unlock the door and then push both lock and unlock buttons at the exact same time for 2+ seconds. There will be 2 chirps indicating the the audible is off. To turn the chirp back on, repeat the process and the system will chirp one time when it is back on.
Battery: as the battery ages it will only work as you get closer to the car. When a battery is replaced, the transmitter must be re-synchronized with the Keyless control unit. To synchronize, press the lock or unlock button 6 times.
Programming: 4 codes may be programmed.
Sit in driver's seat and unlock all doors. Open and close the driver's door
Turn the ignition key from LOCK to ON position 10 times within 15 seconds. Be sure to stop at both lock and on. The horn will HONK once to indicate transmitter programming mode is activated. Leave key in LOCK position and don't remove it from ignition.
You now have 45 seconds to complete the programming as below.
Open and close driver's door again.
Push either lock or unlock button on the remote you want to program. The horn will honk 2 times when successful.
To continue and program other remotes at the same time: open and close the driver's door and push lock or unlock on the remote. The driver's door must be opened and closed between each remote you want to program.
Done programming? remove the key from the ignition and the horn will honk 3 times.
DELETE old codes? Reprogram 4 times, it will overwrite old codes.
Alarm Security System: optional on all models. When locked there is one chirp (can be turned off, see above), the turn signals will flash and the red 'security' light will start to flash once every 2 seconds except for STi which flashes twice every 2 seconds.
There will be 5 chirps if a door, hood, and trunk or gate is not fully closed
You can also arm the system by using the power lock button on the driver or passenger door as you get out of the car and then closing the door behind you.
Disarm the system: push unlock for 2 seconds
Lost remote, alarm activated? When you can't use a remote to turn off the system: open the door with a key or try to start the car and the horn will start to honk. Turn the key on-off 3 times within 5 seconds and the alarm will go off and you can start the car. It's simple!
VALET mode: To set valet mode or just to disable the security alarm system: 1. unlock all doors 2. physically open the driver's door 3. hold the UNLOCK button on remote for 2+ seconds. The red 'security' light will then flash 2 times a second until the car is turned on.
System has been Tripped (except for STi): if you unlock the door with the remote and it chirps the signal light flash 4 times, the system has been triggered;
Identification mode: To find out what happened and why the system was triggered:
Open and drivers door, leave it open. Turn ignition key from LOCK to ON 2 times and then leave in LOCK position.
Tripped code: 1 security light flash: a door has been opened, 3 flashes when the impact sensor was triggered, 4 flashes when the ignition was messed with or battery disconnected

Hp pavillion will not turn on, took battery out and put back in still not working. blue light around power cord on and blue lightening bolt flashes

Hi Iceprincess5

The three flashing lights indicate the battery is dead. Since it still wont power up with the cable plugged in I'd say the port has gone. Try wiggling the adapter about in the port to see if it begins to charge. If not then you would need to take it to a laptop repair centre to get a new dc port soldered on or buy a docking station.

INFINITY AMP PROTECTION LIGHT FLASHING

Overload maybe. If the amp is run at an improper impedence, the amp will shut down. If you are "CLIPPING" speakers / subwoofers the light will blink to indicate a hard clip . Example: 4ohm/2ohm stable amp with 4 ohm subs wired at 1 ohm.

E250P Not powering on... chirping noise

I had the same chirping issue with the sub. I found a document that talks about replacing the C5 capacitor for a 47mfd type instead of 470mfd. This solved the chirping issue however I still experience an intermittend issue with the power on indicator flickering off and on. Anyone hear of the fix for this?

Sub makes loud noise when car is shut off

Does it make noise if the RCAs are unplugged? If not, the RCA shield on your head unit may be burned open.

If the amplifier is set to signal sense, it will take longer for the power light to go off.
