SOURCE: Distorted picture and multi-color words

You need to resolder the convergence chips. This is a very common issue with this line of TVs.

Hometheaterspot.com's Mitsubishi forum has detailed posts on how to fix this. Just serach for "55809 convergence" and you should find the info you need.

Mitsubishi TV troubleshooting
Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.
For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:
12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected

SOURCE: big screen showing double and red ghost color

Go into your service menu and try to adjust the convergence, if it does not adjust, the IC's ( chips) are bad in that circuit. Call a local factory authorized dealer to service your tv. The cost should run around $450.00. Good luck.

The color on our Sony tv is now distorted. The

if this is an older tv and your state might have changed to digital programming then i would suggest trying to look at the back of the set and see if you have anything to fix this problem or you might want to CHECK AND SEE IF YOU HAVE VIDEO ON or CABLE on or TV on. Sometimes if you have Antenna switch to cable then your channels would be red and picture distorted. change the antenna to air for tv. or from tv to cable.

Picture is distorted for about 15 minutes after turning TV on. Was eventually clearing up but lately picture never gets completely clear.

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

F25216bc RCA 25 inch TV. Color is distorted with a heavy red tint

You either have a bad CRT or a Shorted Red Output IC/Transistor. One other possibility is if
someone turned the Screen Control down if it is accessible from the back of the set.
Hope this helps,

Color issues are harder to solve without seeing the problem. It sound like the red amplifier on the crt board is bad. Is there any red in the picture at all? If not, that will be you problem

Picture goes out periodically

Sound like color problems, could be convergence going out. Not quite sure of yellow color, but you could be loosing one of the 3 colors red blue green, this could be why you see yellow.

No Picture

Did you have color problems in past? Most of these sets have convergence problems. Amps goes out. But you should have seen some type of distortion from color, red,blue, green. If no color problems then maybe vertical ouput out or horizontal output bad.
