Sony receiver str-av 570 makes clicking noise and displays a flashing p

Sony str-av570 makes clicking noise when shut off for a while. when turned on a flashing p in the display shows up. I hear clicking noise and nothing works. When i unplug the receiver for a while and plug it back in, it works fine. So long as i keep the receiver on there is no problem.

I friend is having the same problem with the same receiver.
Did you ever find out what the flashing p light means?

I have had the same problem with my SONY STR-AV570 and the problem is very intermitant. When it occurs I have found that a slight 'tap" to the right hand side of the case is the fix. Would like to know what the electrical solution is though.

My receiver is not working and there is a flashing red "P" in the display when I turn it on... don't know what it means...

The receiver is a sony STR AV570.. cannot find the instruction manual

Same problem here! We recently bought a new TV and the installers hooked the TV's sound thru the receiver. When the clicking happens, the light about the "surround" button also blinks. I've found that if I turn the receiver off first before the TV, it doesn't do it. I know I've had it in for repair for the "P" problem before, but can't recall what it was. Too weird.

Unplugging it for a minute and hitting it on the right side seems to work to fix the issue... good grief, man I though my amp was broken

I think my P signal had something to do also with static, all my eletric outlets are un-grounded and when i touched the amp on the metal side, it shocked me, it worked after that

The answer is here- http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&externalId=C215444&sliceId=1&sonymodel=&sonyregion=US&sonytemplate=&product=SG_STRD390_5_7868&fes=true

check speaker wire connections, or turn down volume and power up...

P means protection. the issue was caused by bad cold solder joint or some thing like that. No easy way to fix it.

Having problems with my SONY str-db798 amp. When i turn it on (without any speakers or even with speakers) it flashes "PROTECT" and shuts down. Any suggestions how to deal with it without getting...

Press and hold down the power button on the front panel until you hear a secondary "click" from inside the chassis. That takes about 15 seconds.

Then read my tutorial on how to keep your receiver out of protect mode.

My Sony STR-DG500 wont turn on just clicks once and nothing.

Sounds like faulty psu (pwer suply unit) Amp is going into protection mode. Disconnected all speaker and av wires (only power) turn up volume and see if it stays on. If not psu, sounboard or volume function faulty. If on, connect one speaker L or R. Go to tuner mode to tuned radio station an listen for sounds. If on, connect speakers and av cables one by one and test each one on its own until amp switches off, Investigate from there were problem is. Make sure speakerwires is not shorting out.

Sony STR-DE135: No audio output

first, at turn on you should hear a relay click then a few seconds later a second click. if you should hear the two relay clicks then check to see if you have both A and B speakers on, if you do shut B speaker off. next check the tape monitor switch make sure that it is off. if you should not hear the second relay click you have a problem with the unit and needs to be repaired.

Reciever not working

Are all the speakers GOOD and all connected right?
If so then you have at least one blown output amplifier module.

Sound turns off for Sony STR-DE875 amp

If you do not here a click as soon as the power is turned on, (note you must be in a very quite environment no noise absolutely to hear this) then the amplifier has blown output transistors which are pushing DC current to the speakers.
