Heather,Does the vacuum have a switch or a lever somewhere that makes it change from floor to hose? If so, it sounds like you've been using it on the hose selection but not actually sweeping using the hose. In other words, on an upright vacuum when sweeping just with the vacuum normally have the lever on floor setting and if you use the hose/attachments you have to have the lever on hose setting for things to work correctly. Hope this helps! Deanna
this is caused by a dirty air filter and/or a blocked vacume hose ( most of the time the blockage is at the bend where the hose enters the floor sweeper area ) ---
remove and tap out and brush the filter ( or use a air compressor to blow out filter ).
then with the vacume on its side - remove the bottom plate ( like you were going to change the belt ) and use a coat hanger and clean out the hose between the floor sweeper and where the suction hoes attaches. this will restore your vacume to full operation.
these stick mmachines do not have a tremendous amout of suction at the best of times but if it has a full bag, or full dirt container, or dirty exhaust fiters it will take away from the air flow as well. take a flashlight and look up in to the tube of the floor attachment to see if you can see something blocking the tube.If there is no obstructions it may have a roller bar that spins on the bottom , so turn it over and turn it on and if it has a roller bar and it is not spinning it probably needs abelt . If there is no roller bar and no blo0ckage chances are it is just weak at the floor tool as the air a further to travel all the way up from the floor so it takes away from the air flow again. good luck.
Could be that too much hair, string, or long fibers have been collecting around the roller. Remove it and clean it off. Also check the duct behind roller that goes up into the connection hose. Ther most likely is some sort of blockage.
The neck in your power head is likely clogged. Disconnect from the wand and look inside. Also check the wand.Since you have suction on the bare floor the hose is likely not blocked.
I have a DC04 and the hose tools are a open hole. The only reason they want pick up is they are blocked. If you say they are sucking your hand when not attached.Make sure the hose is not blocked by taking off the cover at the front.Allso check the cylinder rubber seal is sealing the dust container.Thats the only problem i had with mine.Good luck.
If you are talking about the electric hose, try using your none electric hose with the crevice tool attachment to extract the particles from the other one. When using any of the hose please leave it running a few minutes to make sure everything in the hose moves through and does not stop midway through.
http://geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=0&thid=682948 Generic problem for all Vacuums Your instructions do not say Posted by ohmizes on Jun 18, 2008 Your instructions do not say how to get the sweeper to move so that you can sweep under the sofa. Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. there are not too many sweeper that actually get under the sofa when most sofas go almost to the floor and some uprights go flat and some sweepers but if the height of the sweeper or vacuum exceed the height of the sofa underneath then either one or the other cannot clean under the sofa if the height exceeds the sofa height limit without leaning your sofa back or lifting it up to clean. Thanks, Don the Vac Man Go Ahead. Use Us.
