How do I turn of the channel that reads the tv show for the blind?

Hello, Lari -

What is the make and model of your TV? You can choose Comment to add that information.

The option is called "descriptive audio" or "descriptive video service (DVS)". It is probably a Menu choice for your TV.

Perhaps the information here will be helpful:
http://www.acb.org/adp/tv.html
Scroll down the page to the chart with the heading "How to Access Audio Description or Voice Menus Using Their Devices." One of the options may meet your needs.

Best wishes.

The tv is in a mode where a woman is describing what is happening on the tv. Like if a blind person is watching and we can't figure out how to turn it off.

Hello, Suxy -

If you have the owner's manual for your TV, there is probably information about the SETTINGS and DESCRIPTIVE AUDIO or DESCRIPTIVE VIDEO. If you have the manual, find that section and follow the directions for turning it off.

Otherwise . . .

With the remote control for your TV power the TV on.

Then, press MENU.

The SETTINGS options for the TV should then display.

One of the SETTINGS options will probably be AUDIO or, maybe ACCESSIBILITY.

Since I don't know the make and model of your TV, I am unable to be precise in my directions here.

Eventually, you will need to find the TV setting which relates to audio settings. You will want to turn the Descriptive Audio / Descriptive Video setting off.

Best wishes.

How do I turn off blind audio on my jvc TV?

I dont have an answer thats why I ask the question, Why cant I turn off my audio description on my JVC tv? I just typed in all the info in that part of the menu. The CC. Trying to explain to Mike. I turned everything off on it. I enjoy CC's to read in case I miss audio dialogue. Its silent. But audio description is not listed anywhere on my menu. So IF this works turning all CC'S off, I still dont get my CC's visually. Why would I have to turn off a feature for the deaf, CC's, to turn off features fir the blind which arent even listed here. I'm not being difficult. Just frustrated after looking so long for an answer that hasn't come. And missing things I want to watch. I typed all of that n more but it disappeared b4 I could enter it.

How do I turn off the SAP - there is audio description of what's happening on NCIS which was not there before.

If the remote control has a SAP button, pressing it should cycle through the choices. Keep pressing it until you reach OFF. (That's probably how it got turned on. It's easy to hit a button and not know it.) If the remote doesn't have SAP button, adjust the settings through the set's setup menu. If you are using a cable box, make sure it doesn't have a SAP setting that has gotten turned on.

Background voice, 27 inch "truflat" 2005 model

What you're hearing is the descriptive audio track included on many DVDs for vision-impaired viewers. Does this happen when you're watching regular TV or just with DVDs? If it happens with regular TV, do you have a cable box?

Regular broadcasting sometimes uses SAP (second audio program) to send additional audio, and this descriptive audio may be the SAP channel on some programs. Check your TV's audio settings to make sure you don't have SAP turned on. There may also be settings for SAP in your cable box as well, so check there too.

When playing a DVD, descriptive audio is usually an alternate audio track. Check your DVD player setting to make sure you've selected normal audio for playback.
