I bought a tomtom via 229 in the UK at this stage I will not be going back to the UK and would like to install Australian new Zealand maps.

I didn't see an SD card in the specs. Maps are of US Canada & Mexico. I would contact TomTom to see about new Zealand. If not sell it on EBAY

Click the Windows Start button and then click Documents. Open the following folder: TomTom > HOME > Download > complete > map. You see a folder with the name of the map you were trying to install, for instance Europe or United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland. Open this folder.

connect it to your computer via the data cable and create an acct at tomtom to d.l any maps

An up to date Australian map can be purchased from TomTom website going here http://www.tomtom.com/products/maps/

Assuming the maps have been registered for your device.........try resetting the device.
If the maps are not registered, it may eventually boot up, but you'll get a message saying that the maps are not authorised for this device.

You sure can ! but you will have to get hold of the UK map.

I have the UK and canada / usa on mine and jus fer fun gave it a uk postcode while in canada One hell of a route but it worked it out LOL

After extreme perseverance, the problem fixed itself and I now have connection via a local provider.

Most likely , no , unless its a special pack or somthing.

All Maps are available as installable add-ons, usually sold as a insertable memory card containing relevant map software.

So to get Australian maps on your American TomTom would just require installing the Australia Maps pack.
