I need to know how to update the players software as it will not load and play newer BlueRay discs. I tried the download from Philips and that came out as corrupted. Any other suggestions?

SOURCE: philips dvp 3020 dvd player will not play, the "no disc" sighn keeps coming on.

Try this. Wait for the "no disc" sign to appear, and only after that load the dvd. The 3020 I have works alright when I use this method.

SOURCE: firmware update for Element Blu-ray player

Sorry to bring up an old thread but I couldn't solve the problem with these solutions. I tried a DVD, I tried 3 CD's burned from 2 different computers, I waited for 5 minutes, I waited for 5 hours. Nothing worked. So I used my work computer that is running XP and it worked perfectly. So if you are burning the disk from a vista computer I don't think it will work.

I have had my ps3 80gb for a couple of years now but have never tried to play a blueray disc untill today. An on screen message states that I must renew the encryption key. Perform a system software update...

You will not be able to play some newer disc because of the technology embedded in them. The updates allow for those necessary files to be implemented into your system giving it the ability to play games and blu rays. Get your system updated.

Download the firmware from the playstation official website onto a usb

stick. Follow the instructions on the website at: www.playstation.com (the update will be at the bottom of the page, on the right side.)

Your display enviroment does not support protected content playback We are trying to play a blue Ray disc

First of all, do you have a BlueRay disc player in the computer, or just a DVD player? Also, from what I can tell, WinDVD 5 only supports DVD playback, not BlueRay. That may be why it's seeing "protected content". It just doesn't recognize the disc. If you do have a BlueRay player, you may need to upgrade to a newer version of WinDVD, or try some other software.

Will not play avatar blueray DVD

I have just had this issue, apparently the firmware needs to be updated. I am at 1.38 but there is a newer version (1.65) available. Look at the following link:

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/support/software/BDP-51FD/index.html#download_18

and look at 'Download the update instructions'. This will tell you how to check your current Firmware Version and how to update it if it is required.

Sonybdp-s301 won't play 2012

Sony BDP-S301 has an upgrade to Version 5.3 to support the new Blu-ray discs. Download the software here (Click the link). Read the procedure carefully and follow it exactly.
Note: The update makes use of a burned, finalized CD DISK, not a DVD Disk.

I turn on blu ray player and it goes to the regular sonybluray screen and as soon as disc starts to load, screen goes dark and no picure but I can see its playing by the counter

Try updating your player's firmware. You can download the firmware file from sony's website. The blu-ray players require many updates because the blu-ray discs have format changes and special numbers that the player needs recorded into the firmware so the newer movies will play. Here is a link to the download page for the BDP-S300 player. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=BDPS300&LOC=3
You will need to select the download for your operating system. Then you will need to burn the files onto a cd-r disc using the "burn image" option of your burning software. Once the disc has been made you can load it into your blu-ray player and then update the firmware. once updated it should bring your player back up and running again. These players require periodic updates. The newer players that can hook up to the internet update automatically when hooked up to the internet.

Blue ray DVD disc doesn't load but other DVDs do load/play.

You may have to apply an update. There's a key used to decrypt the content on Blueray discs that changes from time to time in an attempt to thwart piracy. Updating involves visiting the manufacturer's(Samsung) website, downloading the update onto a USB stick, and starting the player with the USB stick inserted.
