Unit powers up, I can't get much volume out of it. There's low volume out of left and right speaker. Power meter doesn't light when increasing volume. Power meter lights when powering on and off.

C7 and C15 capacitors bad, on main amp board, 470uf/25vdc, in +13vdc power supply circuit. BE SURE TO DISCHARGE MAIN LARGE CAPACITORS ON POWER SUPPLY BOARD AS THEY RUN AT + AND - 90VDC (180VDC TOTAL) AND STAY CHARGED LONG AFTER UNIT IS UNPLUGED!!! Shock hazard and may damage unit beyond repair if not discharged while desoldering components. Use around a 1000 ohm, 5 watt resistor across capacitor leads, if possible check voltage with meter to be sure they are discharged.

I've tried using the balance for left and right speakers, and when the receiver is acting up with the right speaker having a low volume, I tried moving the balance all the way over to the right speaker. The right speaker volume will not increase in volume but the left speaker will decrease in volume.

Just to clarify, the center and the rear speakers are balanced. The issue only happens sometimes when I first power on the receiver I will have no center channel. If I leave everything alone for a few mins, the center channel will come on.

So it seems to me that something one the receiver is going. The question is, can anyone suggest a physical repair for the receiver for these symptoms?

If you have volume control in the system tray (bottom right corner), double-click it. In Windows XP you will see all the sound controls. Increase all to the maximum level (except microphone).
Use the buttons close to the screen to increase the volume.
There is a volume control in the player you are using. Increase it to the maximum.

1. • 1 Remove the Dell A215 speakers from the box. Place the speakers in your computer area. The speaker with the volume knob is the right speaker and should sit to the right of your keyboard. Place the other speaker to the left of your keyboard.
     
   • 2 Plug the left speaker into the right speaker. The left unit has an orange-brown plug that connects to a similarly colored port on the back of the right unit. The other end of the cord is fixed to the rear of the left speaker.
     
   • 3 Insert the two-prong end of the power adapter into an electrical outlet. Plug the other end into the black power port on the back of the right speaker.
     
   • 4 Insert the main audio cable into your computer. This cable is fixed to the back of the right speaker and has a green head. Plug the green connector to the green audio-out port on your computer. This port may be on the front or back of desktops or on either side of a laptop.
     
   • 5 Turn the knob on the right speaker clockwise to turn the speakers on and increase the volume. Turn it counterclockwise to lower the volume partially or all the way to turn the speakers off. The speakers should work automatically on any computer with a sound card.

Sir the problem of your unit is the power IC the other channel of this IC is already faulty. unplug the unit to the main AC outlet then remove the cover of your unit you will see a large aluminum plate the power IC is attach to that heat sink in order to fix this you should replace the IC. Or can you give me the part number of the IC so I can determine the pin configuration. Good day and best regards.

I have the same problem I tested the power volume controller with in my friend sub-woofer and same issue, is not the sub-woofer neither the speaker, is the power volume controller definitively.

once your call use your speaker phone then press the right navigation key to increase volume then left navigation key to decrease volume..

Check to be sure there are no speaker wires touching ground, and that the wires are connected in phase to the head unit.

The symptoms you are relaying definately sound like an internal amplifier problem. It is fading in and out for a reason - usually due to heat.

Have you had the radio bench tested (seperate from the car) to eliminate the car as being the culprit?

Since the radio was run with damaged speakers originally, the output or amplifier power supply on the amplifier may be bad.

As an alternative to repairing, I would suggest investing in a small 2 channel amplifier to power the speakers.

The radios claim 50W per channel, but in reality give 12-15W RMS power.

A dedicated amplifier with built in crossovers and gain adjustments will prolong the life of your speakers and add to the tonal qualities of your new speakers. Instead of turning up the volume on the head Unit, and sending out a distorted signal that will blow your speakers, an amplifier will give more CLEAN power to them, so it will be louder at a lower volume setting.

This will bypass the internal amplifier on the radio, and send a Low Level signal ONLY thru a set of RCA cables.

You may have speakers of an incorrect impedance attached to the unit since the problem occurs when audio signal level is increased and the current goes up.The unit is shutting down to prevent damage. I would check the speaker connections and make sure that the speakers impedance are matched for the unit you are using.
