In my limited experience older washers tended to have a filter to protect the pump but more modern washers find a simple trap is fairly efficient. The are usually accessible from the front of the machine after removing a panel but if the washer hasn't drained prepare for a flood. The handbook should provide details.
My friend was a white appliance engineer and he found he often needed to remove a drain hose and rod it through to remove a long sausage of detergent powder residue.
Two things I can think of , the coupling to the pump has broken or a coin or other object has entered the pump and jammed it. either way the pump will have to be removed for repairs.
Hi
Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due
to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that
the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is
present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and
drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump
completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller &
clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the
complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps...

If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove
the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then
the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain
filter and drain pump. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump
impeller.
