Won't drain, is there a filter on the pump? - Whirlpool GHW9100L Front Load Washer

Check to see if there is a drain filter. My GE has a small "door" at the bottom of the machine that has a filter behind it. If so ALL of the water will drain when you open it so be prepared. Then clean all of the junk from inside the filter or "trap"

sound as though the drain pump has something hitting the impeller making the clicking noise,and the filter basket next to the pump is blocked by debris and not letting it drain

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hi tragz,

If it can't drain, it won't spin. There may be something preventing the pump from draining in the Pump filter. You will need to clean it.

Please follow my below Tip on how to do it:

Please check the drain pump filter and try to clean the drain hose, pump filter for any clogs/blockages. After this also check drain pump operation, if after cleaning the problem is not solved then replacing the drain pump is recommended repair. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
