Won,t play region 2 dvds it comes from america

Laser assembly has lost the ability to focus and play back. Replace unit since repair not cost effective.

When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player.

There are computer programs capable of remove the region code from a DVD, but the result should be burned on a new DVD. Most players don't allow a change in the region code more than once. So on your player nothing to hack. Sorry

PS3's are dvd region specific meaning that if it was made in north america it will only play dvd's in region one. The solution depends on where you bought your dvd player, certain dvds are released in north america or japan, etc, and they have different 'region codes' - meaning they can only be played by devices that have a matching code. To clarify, if you bought your dvd player in america, chances are you can only play dvds released in north america. Basically, DVDs released in each region will typically only play on players sold in that region. IE a DVD released in the UK *Region 2* would not play on a player sold in the us *Region 1*. If a DVD is listed as 'Region 0' it means that it isn't coded for any region and should play on ALL regions players.
