I have an HP w2207h monitor. On some programs the image is too large for the monitor so that the image and text disappear off the right side of the screen. Could you recommend a solutiion please. Thank...

The HP w2207h monitor comes with an Installation Disk (CD)
It has the Drivers on it.
Have you used it yet?

If not pull the disk out, put it in your optical drive (CD/DVD drive), and load the contents.
After it has finished loading restart your computer, if not asked to do so.

When Windows has fulled loaded again, right-click on an empty area of your desktop screen.
Left-click on Properties at the bottom of the list.
Now click on the Settings tab.

Look down at Screen Resolution in the middle. Is the resolution what it should be?
The native resolution?

If not left-click on the slider, hold the left mouse button down, and move the slider left, or right, until the native resolution is what it's supposed to be.
[The slider is the down arrow looking icon on the line in-between Less and More]

Go down to the bottom right, and click on Apply.
Now down to the bottom left, and click on OK.

The native resolution for the HP w2207h is 1680 X 1050 (Pixels)
Should be set to 60 Hertz also. (60Hz)

I had turned the computer off in order to correct another problem, and when the computer came back on, my FONTs are very large, Icons and the inside programs as well. How can I change it back to normal?

From your description it sounds like your screen resolution changed on you. To change just right click on a blank spot on the desktop or control panel - display. Then click on the setting tab (right side top) and on this page in the middle should be display settings with a slider bar. Just move that to the right to increase the resolution. 1024 by 800 or higher is probably what you want. The actual number depends on the monitor your have. On my older lcd I use 1280x1024 as an example. The higher the resolution the smaller and sharper everything looks. The sharper it is the easier it is on your eyes. So you should go as high as you can which is usually limited by being able to read whats on the screen. ;-]

Images on my screen have been overly enlarged to set it back to original

Close any open programs and close open documents.
  • 2 Right-click in a space on the desktop where there isn't an icon.
  • 3 Click on "Properties". The "Display Properties" window will open.
  • 4 Select "Settings".
  • 5 Locate the "Screen Resolution" box in the lower-left part of the screen.
  • 6 Click and hold your left-mouse button above the downward-pointing arrow in the "Screen Resolution" box. Move your mouse up and down the bar to adjust the screen resolution.
  • 7 Release the left-mouse button when you arrive at a satisfactory screen resolution.
  • 8 Click "OK" to set your screen resolution.
  • 9 Restart your computer to apply the settings.

  • If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy New Year!

This procedure tells you how to adjust screen resolution through Display Properties in Control Panel.

Screen is not centered horizontally. there is a 5 inch black border on the left side and screen runs off the right side.

hi this could be sorted by either changing the resolution in windows, just right click anywhere on the screen not on an icon, then go to properties ( or if vista or win7 personalize ) then click settings and in there check the resolution that is best suited for your monitor, it will automatically change the screen size for you and icon sizes to.... hope this helps

what your son did is change the video resolution on your video card. right click on a blank area of your desktop, this will bring up a popup menu, left click on the word "properties" in the menu. this will bring up your display settings window. click on the "settings" tab. this is where the video resolution and color parameters are set. under screen resolution, there is a slider. move the slider to the left until the resolution is either 800x600 or 1024x768, then click "apply". this will get you back to a screen resolution that most monitors are happy with. if you had a higher resolution setting before, follow the same process to increase the resolution. also there is an option that allows you to test the resolution setting, and if it doesn't work, returns windows to it's previous setting. i recommend you use that option.
