Who provide the internet service. in the technology of internet accessing by cable tv network. the service is provided by the cable operetore than who provide the service of internet to the cable oprator.

The Telecom Company, Who "Owns" the "Network Backbone" so like for a Sky network it is Rupert Murdock, In NZ it is Telecom, for the Xtra network... In Australia it is Australia Telecom,as one... Bigpond & so on... It is all smoke & mirrors anyway. As some companies own the Internal & Overseas CABLE that the Internet is transmitted on, so they sorta "Own" it too. So whoever owns the "Infrastructure" usually calls the shots. And they "Sell" to an ISP, who "Sell" to maybe a telco, who "sell" to a "provider" who sell to the consumer. Or any mix of the above.. Follow the money.. always follow the money, those that end up with the bulk of the cash "Own" it whatever is said.

Connecting my Laptop to the internet in France

Alternative to using a dial-up modem via the telecom system is to connect via an internet service provider. If this is your home, then you will need to have either DSL or cable piped in via a provider (either the French telecom company or another "ISP"). This service is usually considered "broadband" and is faster than dial-up modelm. If the place is managed by someone else, ask ahead if they have wireless or ethernet (wired) internet service. Your laptop likely has the connector for wired ethernet service, but check if it has wireless capability. If it doesn't you will need to purchase a wireless NIC. These are available in USB and PC-Card formats depending on what you have. A final resort if the choices above do not work, is to get a PC-Card 3G data network card. These are 3G telecom modems that plug right into your laptop. They will come with a monthly access charge similar to a 3G cellular phone (uses the same network). But, it is very important that you check that there is service in the locale that you are going to use it in. These work well for remote locations, but again, you must check coverage first.
