My dlp tv has a shadow about 6'' wide and full ht of tv

Hello: The problem is that a small mirror on the light tunnel has fell off causing a shadow in the picture,. In the past the only way to repair this problem was to replace the entire Optics Engine. But Samsung decided it was replacing entirely to many light engines so they decided to allow and train technicians on how to do it. It involves removing the color wheel and behind it is the light tunnel where light from the lamp shines on to a maybe 1 1/4 inch small block with three mirrors on all sides, your problem is that one of these mirrors has come loose from its side, causing a shadow with the pic still in the background. So if you call a technician to come, if he has'nt had the training from samsung on how to do the procedure then he will want to replace the entire optics engine which is the expensive way of doing it.
So when calling as if they know how to replace light tunnel. There are some adjustments that also needs to be done once it's replaced. To verify what i am saying go to this site to find out more. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=758625

Call if you need more info will be glad to help..

Dark shadow about 4'' at top of screen of 56'' dlp samsung hlr5667

There is a piece connected to the color wheel assembly called a light tunnel. It is between the color wheel and optic assembly. There is 4 mirrors inside. One of them probably got dislodged when the wheel shattered. Sometimes they can be repaired using high temp glue or you may have to replace the tunnel.

TV has alittle dark haze, not bad,9inchs in from side, top to Bott

Probably the light tunnel. The tunnel is a square tube made up of 4 mirrors glued together.

It looks like this from the side: |_| (with a piece on top too.)
When the glue breaks down, it shifts inside the little mirror holder. The shifted mirrors looks like this /_/ what you are seeing is the shadow of the tilted mirror tunnel.
ON the RCA's there's not a good fix.

RCA's response:
"Ok, well sadly they do not offer the light tunnel anymore, which is what you need. Sadly you would be rendered to get a whole new light engine assembly. That would be the D.N.D module, light tunnel, color wheel, optic spanner, and oci. mirror. Your best bet would be to search ebay2_bing.gif for a broken engine and replace it that ways."

That is the ONLY response I got from them.

I took the set apart and found the 4 tiny mirrors. I will be attempting to epoxy them together. (The set is dead anyway, why not try?)

Dark transperant vertical line, left side of screen

Your light tunnel is bad. This requires partial disassembly of the light engine. Suggest contacting a tech

Toshiba 52HMX95 DLP has weird gray think line

DLP TVs work projecting light throught a tube covered with mirrors, called the light tunnel.

The gray shadow it is something in the middle of the light tunnel, probably a mirror that has gone out of place when you moved the TV.
