The dial on the front of my Sunbeam Electronic stand mixer Model 01401 is so tight I can hardly move it. How can I loosen it?

SOURCE: Sunbeam Stand Mixer

For whatever reason, Sunbeam must have decided to cut on costs and used a plastic gear to transfer power to the beater. I had my Sunbeam for two years and the plastic gear decided to break. End of mixer. You cannot find a replacement part anywhere. It is the last sunbeam I will buy.

When you open it, there is are contact points and a piece that has to touch to change the speed. It may just be slightly bent or out of place. Some food may have gotten in there.

I found a site that says it has replacement stands for 19.95 plus shipping. You can check it out at http://www.bettervac.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SUN%2D84128&cat=293.

SOURCE: Regarding the Sunbeam Mixmaster (model

Pry the beater release button out with a screwdriver. There are two screws underneath it and one under the motor housing between the the beater holes. This will allow you to remove the chrome front cover, but not the motor and drive assembly. Getting to the part that contains the gears requires complete disassembly of the mixer. It is not designed for service, and requires patience and a variety of tools to disassemble.

It has a metal worm gear and plastic drive gears. If the beaters are out of alignment, then one or both of the plastic gears are stripped and the mixer is junk. Repair plus shipping costs equals the price of a new mixer. This is the weak point of these mixers and a fundamental flaw in an otherwise robust and sturdy design. It is definitly not the same mixer *********** bought 30 years ago.

SOURCE: have a sunbeam heritage stand mixer model 2346-000.

Make sure the bowl is off to the side. I wouldn't get rid of a mixer just because the bowl doest't, if it's a good powerful mixer. There aren't many replacement parts available except directly from sunbeam. You need to get a replacement motor for the bowl turntable.

How to disassemble a sunbeam 2370 mixer

To disassemble a sunbeam mixmaster 2370, find four plastic snappers arranged at 1, 5, 7 and 11 o'clock around the front circle of vents. They can be seen with the help of a good flashlight. un-snap them and the top and bottom shells will separate. From there on, it is clips and screws. Good luck!

I have a Sunbeam Mixmaster 2351 Heritage Series that the speed dial control numbers fade. Sunbeam replaced my mixer but want to prevent the same problem for reoccurring, Any suggestions?

I would propose to solution to your problem,
one. Try getting some clear contact and cutting a a square or circle a little more than the size of the dial. Removed the dial if possible and later clear contact over the surface.
Two. Get some clear nail polish and cover the markings on the dial with thin coat.
Warning warning warning!!! (Test the nail polish on a surface that is not exposed, for example underneath) to make sure that the nail polish does not react with the surface of the mixer.

Note: you will need Adobe Reader or a similar program to read the manual.

LOOSE SELECTOR DIAL

SInce there are no fasteners looks like the dial has lost its "grip" . Will come off if you force it . You can fix back replacement or the same one with some skilful application of araldite or a similar epoxy resin
