Which version of Award BIOS supports HT?

Award 10v BIOS does not support HT. I wish to upgrade the current 3.06GHz/533MHz CPU P4 SL8JA Rev OE which is non-HT to a 3.8GHz/800MHz P4 HT SL8PY, which the product manual indicates is compatible with the mobo. The Award version 10v BIOS screen makes no mention of HT support, so I believe that I need to update the BIOS driver to an HT-supportive version so that the HT attributes of the replacement CPU can be recognized/utilised. Any factual input much appreciated. I suggest to visit the manufacturer's website. If manufacturer has changed BIOS or Update the BIOS, the patches or new BIOS will be available there.

Testimonial: "If you can give me the website URL for pre-2008 BIOS updates I will be very happy!!! The reason I have posted the question is that the manufacturer does not list the older pages and willnot/cannot provide access to them. I have learnt that there are several updates, but finding them is another matter. I cannot even find them on WayBack Machine."

In that case write BIOS Id String or Make and Model number of your PC because sometimes different manufacturers use same model numbers.

I have an Intel D845HV motherboard running with a

In short, yes you can upgrade to a P4 cpu but from the compatibility chart at Intel support, it looks like the upper limit for this older board is the P4 2.6GHz.

Note: Even at that, running the P4 2.6 would require a BIOS upgrade to P12 or greater.

Luckily, the following link has the information you seek: (for BIOS info, click the "BIOS Version" link in the upper right corner of the compatibility table provided)

Intel D845HV CPU Compatibility

I hope this info is helpful!

Be sure you have the latest BIOS version for your motherbaord.

M925ALU (V7.3) must have BIOS : 030703s
M925G (V8.0) and M925G (V9.1b) must have BIOS : 050510s

Hope this helps you out.

Intel P4 2.66GHz/512/533 is not working on MS9337C+.

#1. Does the CPU fan run if not then you may have a conductivity problem between fan and CPu. Did you use thermal paste or grease?

If fan is running follow directions below from my manual for MS9377C+ mainboard.

Go into the BIOS setup ,go to CPU setup, select proper voltage for you CPU. On Advanced setup page see if the hyperthreading function is revaeled. If so your CPU has this function. Set "Enabled " to test HT CPU function. If this doesn't work try "Disabling" the function. Good luck. I am about to attempt tp upgrade to a Prescott 3.0E which the box says this board supports. Sure hope so . Am running a 1.7 now.

Dell Computer Refurbished Optiplex GX260

from what I can tell you can use NORTHWOOD CPUS or POWERLEAP modified cpus on the GX260 but not prescott. as these are incompatible

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/opgx260/en/ug/specs.htm#1110653 would suggest 400 or 533 based P4s

using Powerleap's configurator http://www.powerleap.com
it appears that it is possible to use an Intel P4 3.06GHz 533MHz 478pin 512K Northwood CPU w/Hyper-threading OEM

Processor compatibility

looks like you limited to the p4 Prescott, this is a p4 list of the cpu support from asus. I also looked at their bios update page and found no bios improvement. if you can move to the 775 platform ,you can move from p4. otherwise, the p4's are still  good . I had the cpu that is the 2nd one down. 3.2ghz oc'd to 3.8ghz full time with a max of 4.0ghz on air[775 platform] quad-pumped gave me a 1001.3mhz FSB
