SOURCE: want to disengage lid lock on maytag centennial

I had the same problem. The lid lock assembly is broken. If you are under warranty get it replaced. If not remove the top of the washer and take out the switch assembly. The 4 wires going in are Yellow, Red, White, and Blue. If you short the white and blue together, the washer thinks the lid is closed. If you short the red white and blue together the washer thinks the lid is closed and locked. The yellow is only there to activate the electromagnetic switch.
Disconnecting the switch assembly will not work.
The electromagnet locks the lid and it also unlocks the lid. It is not a matter of cutting the power to the magnet.
Installing 2 switches that connect the red white and blue is the best option if you want to remove the lock.
The first switch should connect the white and blue. (LID CLOSED)
The second should connect the red to the white/blue connection. (LID LOCKED)
After that the lid should work.
Please post a follow-up if this works for you.
GOOD LUCK

I need the repair manual for the Maytag commercial technology top load washing machine

No model number, so generic answers

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/913203/Maytag-Washer.html

The F5 E2 alert indicates the washer can't engage the lid lock because there may be an obstruction in the lid lock area. Please check the lid lock area and remove any objects in that area.

After pushing start, lid locking light flashes, clicks like it is locking but is not locked and nothing happens but it keeps clicking

Sounds like the lid lock itself is bad, be sure to check the connections at the control board. There should be a tech sheet inside the front panel towards the top left. This can help you check the error codes and wiring diagrams.

Maytag centennial washer

When lid lock flashes, that is an indication of a bad lid lock in some of the mvw washers.(depending on your unit and model number &error codes)

I have a Maytag Centennial top load washer. When washing in normal or heavy with large or super load size, the washer remains in sensing mode. Some water does start to fill, but never reaches wash cycle....

This unit does not handle a super large load as it advertised. When you put a super large load, the sensor is over-sized and will not move on the next cycle.

I have a maytag centennial washer MVWC400XWO it is 3 years old. The washer has stopped after the initial wash cycle leaving the cloths wet in a tub full of water. The washer will not go to the spin/drain...

For saftey the lid lock and lid down switch must be activated before the machine can advance to the next cycle. This has been the sequence for all top loaders..

Check the switch for the lid it is likely defective.

Make sure that the power is removed.

Simple repair by a qualified technician.

Hope this helps?

Maytag centennial commercial technology washer, having intermittent trouble with controls, wondering how to acess controls to clean connections ?

There are two 1/4 inch hex screws on the back of the control panel and a pair of metal tabs at the base that hold the panel assembly together. I found this video on youtube that illustrates how to take the assembly apart.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yxjNiAKvYwI fixed mine by just cleaning the contacts on the auto load sensing switch.
