I would call out the installer, you said it was new, so it should be under warranty.
The "W" wire is traditionally the call for heat which may not be getting to the upstairs unit, and if it is, then the unit needs to be diagnosed.

SOURCE: Zone cooling not delivering adequate air to both zones simultaneo

You need to have someone evaluate the ductwork for the home. With all zones calling, there should be an even balance of airflow. And when only one zone is calling, there should not be the tornado effect you describe.

The dampers feeding each zone may be of the wrong size. It also sounds as though you are also having a problem with your bypass damper. This damper is designed to bypass excess air when only one zone is calling. It is operated typically off the airflow alone.

Have it check out. You definitely have a problem. I would recommend getting it looked at by a company other than the installing company to remove any bias judgment or diagnosis.

How do you turn on a comfort zone cz7007? has a knob that turns up to 7 and 2 red switches right next to each other.

On the comfort zone CZ7007, the #1 rocker switch is for 600 watts, the #2 rocker switch is for 900 watts. If you flip 1 and 2 both to on you will get 1500 watts. Which is 600 and 900 added together. There is no down position, but only on and off.

We have a split level home. The heating system is steam/boiler heat. There are three thermostats that control the heat on the different levels. The thermostats on the top floors are set at 68 sometimes...

JUST A REFERENCE; Unit designed to heat 900 sqft. 300 sqft per thermostat. When heat comes on and only 1 zone is calling the unit doesn't heat 1/3. It heats the 900sqft it's designed to. Therefore that "extra heat" HAS TO go somewhere. If it doesnt go to the "non calling" zones the unit would shut down on safety because it would get too hot. So, open a window or you need a bypass damper with bypass duct installed that when the heat comes on for only one zone that "bypass" opens and sends the "extra heat" back into the return rather than to the "non calling" zones. To answer your question, nothing is wrong with your unit or tstats, it's the duct work. Maybe $600 to $800

I have a 2003 HR Endeavor with 2 roof ubits. The front unit will cool and heat but the rear unit will not come on. The thermostat will not cycle to zone 2. Any suggestions?

Try resetting the thermostat. If you have the 5 button comfort control, turn the thermostat off. While holding down the mode and zone buttons, turn the tstat back on and hold the buttons until FF appears in the display. Release the buttons and then see if zone 2 is available. If not, remove the inner cover off the front air and remove the cover off the control box. Inside this box there are DIP switches (red stripe with white switches). Set the one for zone 2 to off and then reset the tstat as described above. Turn zone 2 back on and once again reset. If this does not work, you more than likely have a bad control board in the front unit as this is the one that controls all that.

Hope this helps,

Jeff
