Do not remove the back cover, there are no user serviceable parts inside. Instead:

  • Make sure the Kindle's battery is charged. Connect to a PC using the supplied USB cable until the power LED changes colour from amber to green.
  • Slide and hold the power button until after the power LED blinks three times. If the screen now is blank, repeat the procedure
If the Kindle still does not come back to life, contact Kindle Support.

SOURCE: i need to reset my amazon kindle

You can enter the password as "resetmykindle" in place of your lost or forgotten password and this will reset your kindle for you.

Doing the above will delete all the content from your Kindle and will also deregister the device so once complete you will need to go to the Kindle Support web site and register the Kindle and transfer any purchases back to the device.

SOURCE: kindle is stuck in the Amazon.com kindle store can't get out

Hold the power button to the right for 30 seconds. (Time them- not "One thousand one, one thousand two, ect." because this isn't precise enough.) This will reboot the Kindle and it should work. The reboot may take a while if it has been a long time since your last reboot.

I am trying to charge a kindle fire for kids, before I give it to my grandchildren as a Christmas gift, nothing is happening when I plug in the charger

Not familiar with this but it should have a light next to the charge port. Yellow needs charging, green charged. If you get nothing try another cord. If still the same contact Amazon. Amazon. com, click on "Your account", choose Your account at top of page. On far right of page find Kindle help home. On left of next page click contact us. Leave a message and ask for phone call. They will call back soon as possible. I'm sorry to say it could be a faulty device but Amazon help desk will have the answers for you.

What kind of kid proof protective can you buy for the fire 7" display

Hi Lorraine.

Amazon itself has tons of cases for the Fire available (
Amazon com fire 7 cases ), including a number that go the heavy-duty route. Those tend to be:
  1. Hard shells with
  2. soft cushy shock-absorbing linings, and
  3. Edges, or at least corners, that protrude further forward than the screen, so that a face-down drop catches the edges first, at least on a flat surface.
  4. A good investment to go with the case, if not included, is a tempered glass screen protector. There are all sorts of commercial ones available. For this part, I like e-bay, where there are plenty of protectors for sale that'll only run perhaps $3-6 bucks, including shipping. They'll protect the screen from scratches and light-to-medium impacts, and most have grease-resistant surfaces that you can clean easily.

Looking a bit more, Amazon also has a 'FreeTime Kid-Proof Case for Amazon Fire'. Not the least expensive, but the look is clearly one of surviving youthful abuse.

Kindle keeps turning itself off

This is usually a sign of either a failing charger or Kindle, let's try to hard reset the Kindle.
Step 1: Press and hold the power button for 60 seconds
Step 2: Plug the Kindle into the changer, press and hold the power for 30 seconds
Step 3: Let charge for 12 hours
Step 4: Turn on and use the Kindle, if it shuts down before 6 to 8 hours of use, contact Amazon for a replacement.

Kindle fire won't charge

You may need a new power cord or it is possible that your Kindle Fire's battery has died. If you noticed the battery life diminishing before it wouldn't charge this may be the case. Here is a site that has replacement batteries for the Kindle Fire:
