I have to assume you are referring to a projection TV when you say bulbs. With that in mind, the lamps do run hot so you want to make sure the TV has adequate ventilation around the TV grilles first. Next you want to make sure the lamp fan(s) are clean and no dust blocks the fan or cabinet openings the fan draws air from. That takes care of air circulation. The lamp itself has a relatively short life span of 2 to 3 years, I can't remember the hour rating off-hand. I have seen some last a year or just under but that's usually for high viewing times like 12 hours a day more than likely. Beyond that, the lamp ballast (power supply) could be an issue but it's less likely.

If you are changing your own lamps, make sure you don't touch the lamp with your fingers as the oils can from you skin can shorten the life of it just like it does with any quartz bulb, like halogen bulbs.

No picture and buzzing sound on Sony XBR Wega

Is the bulb light flashing ? - Sony's bulb light is very accurate in telling you if the bulb is bad. The buzzing sound could be from the balist trying to strike the lamp. You also may want to open the lamp door and see if the bulb is shattered.

Nad 218 thx power amp keeps blowing ac plug fuse

Hi there. From memory they had bridge rectifier problems with them going short circuit. Check them first. Sometimes the toroidal transformer can go a shorted turn, in turn blowing primary fuses. try to soft start it whilst it is blowing fuses, Best bet is to make up a special lead that has a 60w light bulb wired in series with the mains power supply(or across the fuse holdwer that is blowing:). Limits the power in the circuit to ... well you guessed it 60 watts.

check em out and let me know.
