Trying to play flash drive in USB port on stereo

Make sure that the music files are indeed mp3 format. An iPod will play several different formats but most av head units only play mp3. A lot of the songs that are downloaded from iTunes are actually mp4

does the radio support ipods or does it support memory sticks
i would check but i can not find a manual for your radio
im guessing that the radio does not support ipods it supports songs on memory sticks.

i recomend that you put some songs on a memory stick or through itunes make your ipod enable disk use

and put the songs on the device using my computer and then try and play some songs

What is the usb port for

hi, you can store music on a usb memory stick from your computer then plug the memory stick into your stereo then you can play your music thats on the memory on your stereo.

it just means you can copy music from your pc and play it on your stereo via a usb stick so you could copy an album onto a memory stick then plug it into your stereo then you can listen to the album in your car, you can also store dvds onto a usb stick and play them in your car its just a way of getting more info onto your dvd player giving you the chance to play things you have on your pc.
how ever some times you may have problems with certain formats and anything copied means you lose you warranty due to the fact your not using originals.

so you use these at your own risks

My Pioneer car stereo recognizing the songs on my IPod 3G

I had this exact same problem. Here is how I just figured out how to fix it. First of all, my friend as an iTouch as well, so I plugged his iTouch into my DEH-P4000UB, similar to your 3100UB, and it actually worked and played music. So I went to my Music then selected a song and pressed pause. I turned on the car and then plugged the USB cable into my iTouch, exactly the same as yours. When I replugged my iTouch into my deck it gave me a different error this time, Error-19. Refreshing but still frustrating. So I turned off the car, unplugged the USB cable and tried it one more time. This time I selected "Repeat" on the song, don't ask me why, but this is exactly what I just did. I turned on the car, plugged the USB and it worked!!!

I understand your frustration and I've been dealing with it for a while now. So hopefully this helps. Good Luck!

On my pioneer DEH-50UB the error message 'ERROR 19' is constantly appearing, this is addressed in the mannual however it merley advices you to restart the unit. obviously this is not satisfactory when it...

Hi,

To my knowledge, ERROR 19 on a Pioneer DEH series indicates failure on the USB connection. This is usually reserve for an iPod direct connection. If you are using such a device, pls:
  • check the Pioneer CD-IU50 USB Interface Cable;
  • reset the iPod;
  • disconnect the iPod and try again;
  • reset the Pioneer by removing the yellow and red connections. Pls note that some versions would require a security code when reconnected. Pls have this ready if and when your particular unit has a security/anti-theft feature;
  • reference page 32 of the manual.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Pioneer AVH-P5000DVD stereo USB Error 23

I had the same problem with my Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD. Just got my 16GB sandisk micro cuzer in the mail from Radio Shack. Here is what I did to solve it:
  1. Copied all the files that came with the Sandisk device to another location (in case I need them again)
  2. Copied all the music I had put on the Sandisk since I got it to another location
  3. Using a Windows PC, I right clicked on the drive in Windows Explorer and selected "format"
  4. I re-formatted the cruzer mini to FAT 32, default size (yes, I know it was FAT 32 already)
  5. Copied the music back to the cruzer mini
  6. Plugged it into my radio and it works GREAT! instant access to any track
Before you do this: Reformatting the drive also gets rid of the software that makes the cruzer mini copy files super fast. It will take a lot longer to copy music to the drive. For me this is no big deal as the only reason I bought the drive was to put a bunch of music on it and then leave it in my truck.
