Toshiba Power on and off problem

Not sure if this is the same problem others have discussed here.
First my Toshiba rear projection screen tv when i turned it on would go on with no picture, then flick off and turn back on with a picture. Now it just kept on turning on then off and on and off without a picture a few times, then finally would just shut itself off. Any suggestions, have no clue what I am doing with this thing.

I have a Toshiba 53 in. HDTV that recently had a repair for double image and failure to auto focus and now is turning itself on and off every 10 to 15 minutes. Does anyone have a solution for this or a owners manual (mine was lost in a recent move)? Thanks....

My 65" toshiba rear projection tv started out with a louder than normal noise coming from the fan in back. After about a month of watching tv with this annoying noise, the tv then started acting differently. When i turned it on, the fan would try to turn on (ex; rin, riin, riin) but would fail to actually stay on. in fact, it would try to turn on about 3 times then automatically shut off. This would happen about 3 or 4 times before the tv would stop trying and just shut off. During all this, there would be no picture on the screen. I really hope someone knows how to fix this problem. If you might have any ideas, you can also get me at [email protected]. thank you!

Sounds like the convergance IC might be bad

at least it would be the first thing to replace.

I recently picked up a Toshiba TN50V71 & am not sure where to start in troubleshooting it. There is no picture, & the led power light is steadily red.

Rear projection TV is made up of a TV, optical lens and a screen. So picture projection problems are from the small TV tube. Take off the back to reveal the TV and see what could be replaced?

Have a Toshiba TP50G50 Projection televison with no picture. Have 100 volts to power board

100 volts is too low to power the entire projection TV. Usually with rear projection TVs there are three tubes that create your picture on the screen. To power those tubes, they each require a high voltage (usually around 10,000 volts - yes ten thousand) that is produced by a high-voltage step-up transformer call a 'Tripler' - since it powers all three tubes. This device and the rest of the TV require full utility voltage (120 - 130 volts AC) to properly power the unit. Correct the voltage and try again - is the house / residence voltage like that in each room? IF so, you probably have other issues with devices you probably haven't picked up on.

The screen jumps around a bunch when i go to play games or dvds. sometimes while other things are playing also. not sure if its the resolution settings or what.

Sounds like either the PS3 is set to 1080p (52hm84 only does 1080i/720p) or you're ps3 is beginning to go. Try it on another HD screen or change to another input (HDMI --> component (RGB))
