SOURCE: cartridge cradle is stuck
I have had this problem with my 7550 for a while now and I finally found this on the HP website and it seems to have fixed my problem, I also replaced all of the cartridges:
Issue
While printing from an HP Photosmart printer, the printer screen displays
Print cartridge cradle is stuck / clear jam and then press OK
.
The printer may also make grinding sounds. This can occur after a paper jam when another printer part blocks the cradle.
Solution
Follow these instructions to adjust the clutch on the printer.
NOTE:
The
clutch is a flat, white, plastic component that rests just above the
white roller gear wheel. In the HP Photosmart P1000 and P1100 printers,
the clutch is black metal.

Filka, You are most likely beginning to experience issues with service station function usually created by the buildup of ink which becomes gelled and gooey, resulting in sticking parts. Two primary points of trouble can be involved; one very easy to see and reach- the other requires a fair amount of disassembly but once inside the job is not hard.
First, right on the edge of the service station (the black box beneath the carriage when it's parked on the right) you will see a narrow white wedge-shaped piece. This is a retracting "wiper" which is supposed to slide forward when the carriage is parked, and to the back when the carriage is preparing to move. It has a small rubber tab at the front edge which wipes ink from a gold contact surface right in front of the wiper. I've yet to see one truly do well at keeping the surface free of ink, but it does keep it from building up. It is quite easy for this wiper to become "glued in place" by all of this ink. Start by raising the maintenance door, causing the carriage to move out to the center and the wiper to retract(if they will). You can then use a dampened paper towel or cotton swabs to clean the contact in front of the wiper, then gently pull forward on the top of the wiper to slide it forward over the cleaned surface. This will remove some of the ink on the rubber tab and begin letting you clean the wiper itself.
The second area of trouble is the service station itself. The sleds and tray are likely to be heavily coated and the only real way to clear them is to disassemble the case for access. You can use the following link to go to a step-by-step photo/instruction guide that will show you exactly what's involved-

Just replace the cartridge.

I fixed this problem by disconnecting the power cord from the power-strip and connecting it directly into the wall. My printer was not getting enough voltage from the power-strip. I hope this helps.
Open the printer as though you were going to install new ink cartridges, letting the cartridge cradle move to the center of the printing unit. Unplug the printer so that the cartridges will remain in their position.
Locate the waste ink absorbers in their black rubber frame. They will likely be on the right side of your printer, and will be located underneath the area where the ink cartridges rest when the printer is in standby mode.
Use a paper napkin or other disposable and absorbent material to soak up any excess ink that may be in the pads by pressing it down onto the top of the frame.
Pull the rubber frame free from the printer, wearing gloves to keep your hands clean. Carefully remove the ink absorber pad or pads from the rubber frame.
Insert new ink absorber pads firmly into the rubber frame. Replace the rubber frame in its original position and close the printer.
Hold down the power button, then plug the printer back in. Continue holding the power button down until the printer begins to reset itself and come online.
Wait for the green power light to turn off, then press and release the power button again. It should blink for two to three seconds, then stay lit; this will indicate that the printer has been reset and is ready to print again without errors.
