SOURCE: Sirs

sounds like it could be the scope more than any thing but shoot at 100 yd 5 shot group and see if it groups if if shots dance around on target make shure your mounts are tight there is time that companys send screws for the mounts that are to long for the holes that are taped in the gun the mount mite feel tight but could have play yet witch make your gun not shoot well you could also try setting the scope on 4 power shoot a shot at 50 yards then crank it up to 9 power shoot a shot if bullet impact moves it is the scope hope i helped ya out and good luck

SOURCE: First bullet fires fine but

It's a problem with the motor that creates the pressured air used to launch the bullets. You need to have it changed.

SOURCE: need date of manufacture for Model 1917 rifle SN 4079800

It would depend on if it is an Eddystone (a subsidiary of Remington), Remington, or Winchester.
Don't think it's an Eddystone, as it's outside the serial number range.
Who was the manufacturer?

SOURCE: I have a Eddystone (Remington) 1917 rifle with serial # 1183417...I was wondering if you could tell me when it was exactly..?

Military Dates of Manufacture This link will take you to the general web page, select your Eddystone M1917 rifle and enter the number. It says yours was made in November of 1918. The U.S. Army discontinued the use of the M1917 in 1919 after they voted to keep the M1903 as the main service rife due to poor performance in shooting contests. Have fun with that awesome piece of American History and treat her well.

Do you have bullet drop for the 450 Bushmaster

From a friend - All bullet drop depends on the bullet weight, load and barrel. So, a 450 bushmaster with 20" barrel on it and done some work with it the past few days. After some trouble dialing in the scope multiple times I finally got it on at 100 yards. With a 100 yard zero (around 1.5" groups which isn't too good but I believe it is due to my scope which is going to get replaced shortly) we shot it out at 300 yards to see what it would do. We calculated the drop to be approximately 30" with the 100 yard zero. First few shots we were not on paper so we raised hold point up a few inches and we had our first mark. After 2 more shots we had a group to measure from. Back at the house we measured the 3 shot group at 300 yards to be 7.5 inches. (again I am confident this can perform better with a better optic) and 37.5" low. With a 2000 fps velocity and 250 gr bullet from Hornady, it puts the ballistics at

100 yrds- 0" drop, 2030 ft lbs energy, 1912 fps
200 yrds- 9.5" drop, 1067 ft lbs energy, 1386 fps
300 yrds- 37.5" drop, 760 ft obs energy, 1170 fps

Where can I find reloading data for using Winchester 231 powder to load 243 cartridges using a 53 grn. V-Max bullet?

Any shop the sells gun powder will have a powder loading booklet and they are usually free.

223 bullet drop chart

The best way to generate that chart is by shooting over a chrono and inputting the data into an external ballistics calculator, such as this one by Hornady:

Ballistics Calculator

It takes some work to gather the data, but it's much more accurate than any generic chart can be. I've used cards generated by a couple of different online calculators and have gotten better than acceptable results out of them with both my match barrelled 5.56 AR carbine and 7.61x51 Savage 10FCP. Good enough to ring 6" steels at 300 yards and 500 yards, respectively.

There are many other web-based calculators that can do the job, just search for "external ballistics calculator" for more.
