You should confirm the TV in the system, the TV must be adjusted to the PAL or NTSC system based on the region you are in. When the TV system is also selected correctly, the DVD is also adjusted to the corresponding standard.

You can check on this article for some detailed reasons and more solutions for each issue:

When I hook up DVD player to 32inch LG television there is no color on the TV it plays in black and white. Why?

first check color level setting on the tv when on av source input. double check input you are using, yellow video input (not green)
then try another device in that same input, then try the DVD player on another tv. The problem will be either DVD player or incompatibility or bad main board in TV, but usually a DVD or compatibility problem(cheap DVD player)

My VCT/DVD will only play in black and white

tv is probably off the right channel or if it is an old tv you might need to manually adjust the tv tuner by pushing down and turning the round tuner adjust knob one way or the other.

There some thing that you had done to get black and white on your tv with the dvd ,check your connections.if the connections are properly connected then the tv could be having a problem in the video input, have a tech look at it.

DVD Plays in Black and White

Depending what cables you have, try plugging only the yellow cable into "video out", I previously had red, white, and yellow cables plugged into "comopents out" and only got black and white. Doing only the yellow into video out gave me color.
