I have the same unit.
Have you cleaned out the removable filters?
also the red light at the bottom indicates the time to clean the filters.
to reset it, use a paper clip. The red light on the bottom right is the filter indicator light, what looks like it should be a light beside that filter light, is actually a reset button, just poke it with a paper clip for a few seconds to reset. The bottom red light goes out
1. Plug unit into outlet.
2. Press power ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
3. Allow unit to start running at low speed.
4. PRESS and HOLD both the UP and DOWN arrow buttons until the FILTER REPLACEMENT INDICATOR starts to blink.
5. Release both the UP and DOWN arrow buttons.
6. While the FILTER REPLACEMENT INDICATOR is still flashing, again PRESS and HOLD both the UP and DOWN arrow buttons untile the FILTER REPLACEMENT INDICATOR turns off.
If the steps above have been performed properly, the Filter Replacement Indicator will turn offand not flash again for 11 months. If the Filter Replacement Indicator remains on, repeat the steps again.
*Note that in step 6 above, the Filter Replacement Indicator MUST still be flashing when the buttons are pressed the second time. The Filter Replacement Indicator will continue to flash for approximately 3 seconds after the buttons are released as required in step 5 above.
To RESET the Electronic Filter Check: When the filter check light remains on,it is time to check/clean the HEPA-Type filters and reset the filter check,if needed. With the unit powered on,insert the tip of a ball-point pen or paperclip into the hole next to the LED filter check light and hold for approximately 5 seconds until the light turns off (Fig 5). Depending upon your individual usage (environment and hours used),you may need to check and clean the filters more or less frequently. If the HEPA-Type filters are cleaned before the filter check light turns on,the filter check should be reset at the same time. These cleaning intervals are intended as guidelines only. Performance of any filter media is dependent upon the concentration of contaminates going through the system. High concentrations of contaminates such as dust, pet dander and smoking will reduce the useful performance of the filter. NOTE:The HEPA-Type filters are not washable. Fig.5
Use a DVM continuity function to see if the fuse is blown, and check all the DO FIRST literature packed with the thing. You probably get to take a note out of the ionizer chamber.
I owned the previous model of the same unit with the hole for the paperclip. But it wore out and I replaced it with the HAP422 and found the same issue; no hole to "reset" the light. I was just fooling with it and determined that "some" switch would reset it and finally held the power on button on for a few seconds, after which, the red light flashed and then went out. Problem solved. BUT THERE IS NOT ONE WORD IN THE MANUAL TO TELL YOU THIS! WHY NOT?
