Yep, the inverter transformer on the Power Supply Board burned out. It's one of 5 inverters that powers up the screen.
If one is burned out, it will not have enough juice to power the screen and goes into protection mode like it's doing right now.
You'll have to replace the POWER SUPPLY/BACKLIGHT INVERTER BOARD. The cheapest place runs for about $90.
It's definitely cheaper than buyig a new TV. That what I did to fix mine. :)

You can try http://providencedata.com/. They have a huge selection of inverter boards. If you are using the monitor and are confident in your souldering skills you can usually buy the capacitors for about 20-30 cents each... Bit of a risk if it goes and burns up on ya though ;)
