There is likely a fault. If the water is still in the machine then the cycle has not completed. If its prom night and you need the clothes "now" I would unplug the machine, that should release the lock.
Next load I would start with something that can be left in the machine. Use a basic cycle and see what happens. The locking of the door is normal and part of the wash process. The manual "attached link" describes where and when in the process the door will lock. You can try "pause" if the cycle needs to be interrupted.

That would depend on the model of finisher you have attached to the machine. If it is a larger finisher attached to the side of the machine open the Sorters front cover and the inner door should have a sticker with instructions. If you have an internal finisher it can be the same concept open cover and load the staples as show on the cover. There is also another internal finisher where a gray handle is pulled to slide the finisher out and the staples load into the upper rear area of the finisher.
your main belt is broken or loose i would suspect the latter, the reason the door will not open is the machine has started a wash cycle and because the belt is not able to finish the cycle the door wont open so the progam is not finished, switch the machine of at the mains and the door will open after 10 mins. But the problem remains the belt.please rate this answer thanks.adrian,,,,,,,,,
Hi, Make sure you are allowing the washer to completely finish its cycle before opening the door. It is normal for the door to lock at the end of a cycle. The locking mechanism keeps owners from opening the door before all of the water has been drained. If the door on the washer is locked, select the "Drain" or "Spin" options on the front-load washer. This will completely drain the water from the system and unlock the door, allowing you to open it. Thank you !!
i think you are talking about a front loading machine, have you waited for at least 3 mins before opening the door?
these types of washing machines locks the door in order to run. but after a cycle is finished, the door would not open right away, there is a delay on opening the door.
michele99, So when you put it on drain, do you here the machine trying to drain the water? After it finishes draining, (you have to wait a few minutes, it should then have a blinking light
on the Finished/Door locked light.
Are you waiting for it to finish?
You have to remove and clean the rubber around the front of door, , Snap it back on. disconnect AC to prevent any accidental shock. open the bottom access panel screws on bottom front , open the large filter and be ready for latent water to spill out , have rags ready.
clean the inside of the filter with clorox. finally run a strong solution of clorox when you finish. then rinse well. leave the door open after loads finish the door has a child lock black dot next to lock on door , insert coin and rotate. keeps them from closing the door.
