As an example, let's use 500 square feet to be mulched at a
3" depth.

1. First, the depth must be converted to feet. To convert inches to feet, simply divide inches by 12, the number of inches in a foot.
   
   So for our example: 3 inches divided by 12 equals a 0.25 foot depth.
2. Now that we have the depth in feet, we can multiply the depth by the area.
   
   So for our example: 0.25 foot depth times 500 square feet equals 125 cubic feet.
3. If you are calculating 0.5, 2, or 3, cubic foot bags, simply divide 125 cubic feet by the size of the bag.
   
   So for our example: if we are using 2 cubic foot bags, we can divide 125 cubic feet by 2 which equals 62.5 bags.
4. If you are calculating cubic yards, we need to convert 125 cubic feet to cubic yards by dividing by 27. One cubic yard is equal to 27 cubic feet, see the diagram below.
   
   
   
   So for our example: 125 cubic feet divided by 27 equals 4.63 cubic yards.

66.6 cubic feet / 27 cubic feet/cubic yard = 2.5 cubic yards.

You cannot calculate cubic feet from only two measurements. Cubic feet is an area of volume, such as the inside area of a box. With only two measurements you get square feet, which is a measurement of area. A box 11 feet by 21 feet takes up an area of 231 square feet (11 times 21). If the box is 3 feet tall, then you can compute cubic feet since you take all three values and multiply them together. A box 11 feet by 21 feet by 3 feet would contain 693 cubic feet of space (11 times 21 times 3).

A mathematical logic question.
You need to get all of the measurements in the same units.
- A cubic yard is 1 yard x 1 yard x 1 yard
- equals 3 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft
- equals 27 cubic feet,
so once you have the volume of the pipe in cubic feet, you divide by 27 to get the volume in cubic yards.
- Volume of a cylinder (the pipe) is the cross sectional area X length.
- Area equals Pi x r squared.
- equals 22/7 x 1 x 1
equals 3.14#####

equals 62.857### cubic feet volume
divide by 27 cubic feet
equals 2.328### cubic yards.

The square footage is 14 times 70 equals 980 square feet.
That would be the Floor Area.
Air conditioners sometimes need to know the building volume so if you have 8 ft ceilings you would multiple 980 by 8 to get 7,840 CUBIC FEET.
Air exchange is typically are rated at cubic feet per minute and required as "specified Air Changes per Hour.
An example for your trailer would be 1/2 air change per hour required per building code. 7,840 times 1/2 equals 3920 cubic feet per hour. Divide that by 60 to get 65 cubic feet per minute.
That would be the minimum air change capacity for your air conditioner if it was also providing required ventilation.

Calculating the cubic feet of a space requires multiplying the area of the bottom times the average height. You get the bottom area by multiplying the length times the width. Remember, to get cubic feet, you need all your measurements in feet to start with.

Here is your formula:

VOLUME (in cubic feet) = Length (in feet) X Width (in feet) X Height (in feet)

If it's a rectangular room you're working with, it is all straightforward. If there are irregular walls, it may be necessary to divide up the room into rectangular sections and then add together their individual volumes. Cubic foot is a unit of volume. Square inch is a unit of area. There is no direct conversion between them.

An area of 144 square inches and a foot high would be one cubic foot. So would an area of one square inch and 144 feet high.
