I've stumbled across your site by simply googling "attaching ribbon to lcd glass", and now that I see the work you are doing here, I have an advice that may help you with this white ribbon cable: It is a special cable indeed, and not of the same type as the brown one. I have successfully repaired dead lines on LCD displays in some devices, including my collection of vintage Motorola StarTAC GSM phones, for which the LCD modules are no longer available anywhere.
The trick in "resoldering" this type of ribbon without damaging it, is using an iron with temperature control. The bonding material on those cables melts at 190 degrees Celcius, and I had good success reflowing the glue when I set my Weller soldering station to 205 degrees. Simple soldering irons without temperature control heat up to more than 300 degrees, and this will destroy the cable by completely melting it, when I first tried doing this with a regular iron I had the same results as you are showing here.
Anyway, I won't be digging into the subject here, but if you would like more info or any tips, feel free to send me an email, I would be glad to help.
Take care. alt="How not to fix dead horizontal lines on a DMG-01">

All right so I had opened up my original Gameboy yesterday and I had found a small chip in it with an antenna that extends to about an inch long.

Well I have heard about this before it sounds like that there was a Russian spy working at Nintendo at that time back in and was put in by a Russian spy too. According to the new there are still probally Russian spies in the U.S. and in Canada. One in twenty original Gameboys will have that chip in them then. My best bet is to flush that chip down the toilet. Yes LCD had existed back in 1989. Tetris was originally from Russia and Nintendo had taken it from then then so that's probably on why it was put in your original Gameboy to see on where tetris would end up too.

My Gameboy original has a black line in the middle of the screen when it is turned on and the screen is blank too. Or sometimes the power light will be like its off when its turned on too.

Well this has had happened to me once before with these problems. I am guessing that no red light coming on could be that maybe the fuses are broken or there might be a loose connection inside of the Gameboy somewhere or the capacitor that is broken could be the problem. Or it could be the screen then. The black line in the screen while it is on is not the lines but a problem with the screen or the machine is not working right. I had hitted the screen and it works now. It might just need to be hited lighty to see if it works on you.

Okay so I took apart my original gameboy and I found a small chip in it with a small screen and with an antenia that reaches out about an inch then. If anyones knows what this chip is and recongises it too...

Well if the words on it are in Russian the device its self was probally puted in by a Russin spy working at the Nintendo factory at the time. According the news there are still Russain spies in The US and in Canada. Yes LCD existed back in 1989 when original gameboy was made. So it was in there since it was firsr being manufactored at the nintendo factory. I have 3 original gameboys and none of the have A small chip like that in them then. So its a one in 1000 orignal gameboys will have a chip in them or or candies putted in them since production.
