1. Unplug the set and disconnect everything connected to it (DVDs, etc.). Wait five minutes. Plug the television back into the wall outlet, and try to turn it back on again using the remote control or the "Power" button on the unit itself. If the television starts up without the blinking light, turn it off, reconnect your devices and turn it back on again. If you still see the blinking light, perform a factory reset.
2. Factory reset. Point the remote control at the television, and press and hold the "Up Arrow" button. At the same time, press and release the "Power" button on the television. Your television will reset to its factory settings, and the red light will no longer blink.
If neither of these work you will need factory service.
You have to tell the TV which HDMI input to use. ie you should be able to press a button on your remote to do this. On my tv we can choose between 4 different HDMI inputs via the remote.
press cable and record buttons at the same time and wait for all the lights to flash in sequence then let go. this will reset remote to factory defaults. then reprogram remote with codes for each device.here is a site for codes. http://www.universalremote.com/resources/pdfs/UR5U-8780L_UR5U-8790L.pdf
turn off and unplug everything from the power outlet/power bar (cable box, DVR, TV etc) and wait for 5 minutes. Plug in Cable box first, wait 2 minutes, then plug in everything else. Everything SHOULD be up and running at this point. If not, do the same procedure, but leave everything unplugged overnight.
I've repaired a few Insignia's with cold solder joints on the IR receiver in that model. If it's not that then the Main board has to be replaced. Not worth it if it is.
turn off pc completely(shutdown) make sure hdmi cable is unplugged. plug into tv first, turn tv on, plug hdmi cable to pc then power up, it should now be able to recognize the tv. Try it in projector mode if available.
Reboot the computer and go into the BIOS, see if its recognized in there, if its not recognized then you'll need to turn the computer off and unseat and reseat the cable and the power connector to the dvd drive. Then turn on the computer again and go into the BIOS, if the dvd drive is still not recognzied then you'll need to replace the drive.
If the dvd drive is recognized in the BIOS and not in windows then you'll need to go into the system restore in windows and choose a date the last time the computer was working, it will restore your computer back to this date and reboot. At that point it should recognize your dvd drive. If it doesn't then your OS is corrupt and you'll need to wipe out the drive and restore your computer back to factory defaults.
I just did a search today because my kids have the same tv. I found out if you push the volume + and channel + at the same time for about 5 seconds, the tv shuts off and resets. It is in factory mode. Give it a try, if that doesn't work try volume - and channel - at the same time.
Unplugging my TV for 15 seconds (longer actually - at least a minute) made the remote and the satellite TV remote both work again with the TV. Thanks for the tip!
