Ensure that you are using a crossover cable to connect the two routers together, if thats not what you are presently using, then make sure that you are allocating different static I.P Addresses to both of them.
But if what you are saying is that you are trying to connect the separately, and not together to the network, and its not working like the first one, then I suggest that you return it to the point of purchase, if you still have the warranty card, before its too late.
Hope this helps.
Goodluck!

How to connect to XboxLive via 1800HG 2WIRE+Linksys adaptor?

The easiest way to connect to Xbox Live without using your pc is to buy a
wireless network adapter for your Xbox.

You would then go into the system settings on the Xbox and configure the settings for your wireless network.

Xbox 360 - direct to internet - No PC.

2wire 3800HGB-B interference

I would increase the wireless power inside the modem. This will boost the signal allowing it to stay connected more often.

- open IE
- browse to gateway.2wire.net
- homenetwork icon
- wireless settings
- enter your system password
- If your on channel 1 or 11 the power will only be able to go to 4.
- Change to a wireless channel between 2 and 10
- Increase the power to 10
- Save

Can't access 2wire network using netgear adapter

I was also having trouble with my Netgear wireless n USB adapter connecting to my new at@t 2WIRE gateway. The problem was that the netgear software wouldn't allow my computer to stay connected to my 2WIRE gateway and the software wouldn't allow Windows when restarting my computer. I have Windows XP and after hours with at@t support there was no resolution and they gave me Netgear's suport number to call 1-888-638-4327. After 10 min. the problem was fixed. They had me click start icon at bottom left corner then all programs, then highlight "start up" and if you see anything like netgear adapter or netgear start up wizard right click on it and click delete. That was it! rebooted my computer and it connected automatically!!! I'm not very computer knowledgable but I hope this helped

2wire router

Turn everything off. Router, PC etc. all OFF. Then start the PC, wait 2 mins. Then plug in the power to the router. Then the cable into the PC. Then check fireware [Zone Alarm etc] to see if it is recognised as receiving data. Click on IE or Firefox.
If this fails, do it again Have a coffee break. Remember the cable connects to the broadband and it flows in and out without the dreadful instruction CDs given you.
