SOURCE: VHS tape plays for a few seconds and automatically ejects

My guess would be dirt on the rollers inside the VCR. They sesnse a jam and ejct. Try a VCR cleaner (with cleaning fluid) and see if that helps.

VHS tape will not eject and unit shuts down

It's not loading correctly. You need to open the cover (unplug first) and get familiar with the loading mechanism. You can get the tape out by rotating the loading motor wheel.

How to eject a stuck vhs tape.

I will show you how to eject a stuck vhs tape. I did this on the sony slv-d300p first, unplug it. Next, take out all the screws on the back. Take off the cover. Locate the loading motor on the right. Turn the gears next to it. After about 5 minutes, the tape should eject. While its open, take a CLEAN piece of paper, hold it up to the drum, and rotate it with the paper against the back. after 5 minutes, take the paper off and stop spinning. the paper may be dirty. put the cover back on, and try to put in a vhs c adapter with NO vhs c in it. when you put it in, it should spit it back out.

Cannot play a VHS tape. Push in and pops out.

The belt on the loader motor is slipping. This causes the tape to not completely position itself to allow the tape to load around the drum. The machine senses this and ejects the tape.

Shuts off when trying to play or record

This could be due to the VHS tape sticking on the tape reel, that triggers the overload and the shutdown. Try fast forwarding if possible.

Well ont eject all the way out

There is a problem with the loading basket, or the VHS tape is stuck inside and the eject mechanism can not cycle the tape out. To check this, open the lid so you can see the tape, if it is wrapped around the head and roller, hit the eject button to see if the tape is being pulled or jammed, cut the tape with scissors to free it up to see if it will pop out. If the tape is okay, it means you have a faulty loading basket.

A VHS tape is stuck in my TV/VHS combo unit.

I'm sorry to say that the solution as stated is not correct. This condition usually occurs because of belts that are slipping. In order to remove the tape, some dis-assembly is required. If you have not done this in the past, I would not suggest that you attempt this repair. This repair should cost about $10 in parts plus labor. It is possible that the IR LED is defective as well which can also cause this. This is a common failure and should be a simple repair for any shop.

Sony SLV-640HF VHS VCR ejects any tape after a couple of seconds

While the tape may appear to be loading properly, it is not. These units have a known problem with the grease at the loading arm getting sticky. This means that the tape is not loaded properly and will not move through the VCR properly. This is detected as the hubs not moving and the unit will eject the tape to prevent damage. This is a simple repair for anyone that has done these before, but requires an alignment check. This check requires a special alignment tape and equipment.

This should be a labor only repair.

Tape keeps getting ejected

This unit requires the rubber parts to be replaced. The loading sequence is not completing properly. The VCR will eject the tape when the sequence fails as a safety measure to prevent damage to either the VCR or the tape.

Parts cost for this should not be more than $10.
