How to fix Leapfrog Leapster 2 electronic board?

Hello,
there are three basic reasons why the leapster explorer won't bring out sound.
1. Defective speaker
The speaker of your leapster explorer maybe defective, this can make it not bring out any sound. Disassemble the leapster explorer, check the speaker part, test the speaker with a AA battery. If you hear any sound using the battery, then it means there is nothing wrong with the speaker.
2. Loose wire connection
Disassemble the leapster explorer, check the wires connecting the speaker to the board. Check for any wire cut, or loose connection which can cause the speaker not to bring out sound. . 3. Sound IC/Card/Board
If non of the above is the cause of the problem, then it means the leapster explorer is having a defective sound ic/board/card. There is an IC on the board of the leapster explorer which is responsible for sound. If this ic has a shot, there won't be any sound. If this be the cause, I think it's high time to took the leapster explorer to a repairman because this requires skill.

Yes all you have to do is (first of all check the batteries) find out whitch parts of the console is not working (I don't know how sorry about that) and replace it. Wish i could be of more help. maybe try going to the

My 2-year old appears to have broken the glass on her leapster. Is it beyond hope?

clean the cartrdige pins with a lint free cloth (baby-wipe) soaked in rubbing alcohol. This worked on 7 cartridges that were doing the same thing

We have the same problem and our leapster is only 2 days old.Do Touch Screen Calibration,it should help.I do it everytime for my son when he wants to play and it does help...But once u turn leapster off,u'll have to calibrate it again next time...
Just hold down hint button while turning on.When the Leapster menu screen appears,press the A button.Touch each of the crosshairs that appear with the stylus.restart unit. ..That what we do everytime.

hold down the "?" (question mark) when you turn the unit on. Then calibrate the screen. It fixes the issue.

Black is usually negative Or nuetral, so your assumption would be correct.
As for the cicuit Board end or PCB Side, i,d look to see where the Red from the battery goes on to the Motherboard. Observe the Size of the Solder Spot, and the Black Should be in Close Proximity to that. To be more sure, if you desolder, the spot.
And put a magnet on the desoldered/Solder. any remnants of metal strands, from the broken Wire, will magnetise.
As solder is mainly non-conductive. Tin/Lead.
If there are no visible signs, of the Black-Wire being adjacent to the Red. Look On The Opposing side of the Board.
The Additional Hint Here, Is to gauge by the length of the Wire.
