There is a Safety System - Shifter Lock - normally with the Ignition Key ON - and Brake Pedal depressed - it will unlock the shifter so you can get out of Park.
There may be an issue with that Safety System - even a blown fuse could cause issues.
Let me know if this helps
Thanks

button location, and varies by sub body type and options.
its hidden cover, or a slot, on most cars. the slot type is to insert
any key in slot and push. bang, it opens (brake set, etc)

Automatic will not shift out of park

THERE SHOULD BE A KEY SLOT ON SIDE THE SHIFT ,STICK A KEY IN IT WHILE KEY IS TURNED IN THE IGNITION THIS WILL DISENGAGE THE LOCK AND ALLOW YOU TO SHIFT.IT MAY LOCK BACK WHEN YOU PUT IT PARK AGAIN. THE SHIFT CABLE MAY BE GOING BAD OR IS BAD.

Car is stuck in park..nissian sentra 1992....

Check that your brake lights work if not check fuse 7 and then check that the green red and black red wire are both live when the brake pedal is pressed if not the brake light switch is bad, after that there is a relay and shift lock solenoid in the circuit that need to be tested. I think there is a small button next to the shift lever that if you press it down will allow you to manually get the car out of park.

GEAR SHIFT

The most likely problem is the locking mecanism in your shif selector.
There is a selenoid that prevent the car from get it out of park unless you push the brake pedal while the car is running or the ignition switch is on.
The problem could be in the brake switch itself under the dash or the selenoid in the shifter console.

My car will not come out of park

make sure the breake lights work 1st, if not check the brake light switch, the park position is locked until the system senses the brake is depressed, it does this through the brake light switch, if the brake lights work the park solenoid or the cable it operates is sticking or defective.

Parking lock?
If it is the parking lock, you will need to change the shift interlock solenoid. It is usually under the driver's side dash. It is a box about 1" X 1" X 3" and has a plug going into it. It should be blue in colour
