This is the part of the machine where the bobbin case with bobbin is inserted into.

HINT: before you install the shuttle, make sure to place a drop of sewing machine oil around the outer edge of the shuttle and lightly spread it around the outer edge (you should do this about every time you change a bobbin). Sorry, you'll probably need to be familiar with removing and installing the shuttle. Have patience! Once you've done it a couple of times, you'll wonder why it was so difficult.

It usually helps if you can tilt the machine back about 45 degrees so it is supported by something (pillow, cushion) so you can get good visibility into the bobbin area.

Raise the needle so that the take-up bar is at its highest point.

Make sure the outer hinged door on the shuttle area is open. Inside that open door is a metal unit that is shaped like a "C". The shuttle makes up the other part of the "C". The two C's face each other and complete the circle. Grasp the shuttle by the projecting bobbin pin. (Perhaps the photo & videos will help you in placing the shuttle (you'll probably need to wiggle it around a little until it pops into place.) Once the shuttle has snapped into place and you've closed and latched the outer cover, you can install the bobbin case.

MY BOBBIN CASE HAS FALLEN APART AND I'M NOT SURE HOW TO PUT THE PIECES BACK TOGETHER.

Sounds like you are describing the hook. Perhaps the owner's manual would be assistance. We don't know the make/model of your machine so are really unable to help. There are some videos on YouTube that show how to install a shuttle and bobbin case, but machines differ.

Cant raise the needle on my necchi from the plate

Mine did that, I opened the bobbin door, and unlached the bobbin holder. It was stuck so I had to force it out, replaced the needle.
, and put the bobbn componants back together then it worked fine. Also make sure the machine is oiled properly.

Why does the shuttle hook grab the spool thread instead of the bobbin thread? It wraps the thread around the bobbin and binds the machine up.

The shuttle hook is suppose to hook the needle (spool) thread and loops it around the bobbin case to form the lock stitch. Is it possible that something was adjusted without proper clearances as to allow the thread looping around the bobbin case to do so without catching up where it should pass through freely?

Problem inserting bobbin

Inserting bobbin into the bobbin case or problem inserting bobbin case into the shuttle?

Make sure the thread will feed from the bobbin clockwise and through the guide on the bobbin case.

Lift the lever on the bobbin case to hold the bobbin in place as you inset the bobbin case into the shuttle.

If the bobbin case for this machine as a "finger", this has to align with the opening in the shuttle.

If you cannot readily see this - move the bobbin case a bit to the left and right until it clicks into place.

Neddle problem

Sounds like the needle is hitting the bobbin casing. Take it out and re-seat it. Check your manual.

Necchi 575FA runs heavy, wheel barely turns.

It is the bit that rotates the bobbin case back and forth in a "shuttle" motion.
It sounds like it would be worth exploring the idea that it is time for a service !!

How to install bobbin

In the shuttle area there is a silver round piece- called the shuttle race cover. It has a black ear on the right and a black ear on the left. Push the right ear to the right, and the left ear to the left and the silver ring should come out. Behind the silver ring is the bobbin case stuck in the hook. Remove that, jiggle it, move it, just work the bobbin case out of the hook. Now put the hook back in the machine. In the machine there is a driver that looks like a half moon. Your hook looks like a half moon- make a full circle out of both of them. Re-install the race cover, pushing the left ear to the right and the right ear to the left to secure the race cover, and your problem should be solved.

Bobbin case on my 524fb necchi has come apart

Almost all Necchi use a class 15 bobbin & bobbin case, a new case should cost around 7 to 10 dollars!

Manual

There should be another post 2 inches directly behind the bobbin threader post. I tried to move the front post to the back, but they do not seem to remove, so I'm surprised yours doesn't have the back one. Does it look like there is an empty hole for a post? Have you tried threading it with the spool on the front (only one in your case :) ) post? I have the same model # 3537
