There's a tiny switch just below and to the left of the battery. No reference in the manual that I could find.

Keeps saying card protected when I inset the SD card

Hi Scott - There is a TINY little "slide switch" on the edge of an SD card that is quite easy to accidentally move. It's purpose is to keep important stuff from being accidentally erased. If you look in the image below, just to the left of the word "Extreme" you'll see the slide lock - it's small, in the "notch" to the left of Extreme. You'll also see that the word "Lock" is written vertically and points down (in this case) to indicate which way is locked. This disk is unlocked. Best wishes.

Cant find cmos battery on toshiba satellite A215-S4757

Zoom in on the first picture from the link below:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toshiba-Satellite-A215-AMD-Motherboard-K000053710-CPU-A215-S4757-A215-S4817-/170847961281#vi-content

This is a picture of your motherboard. The RTC (CMOS) battery is the little light blue and silver circle in the lower left part of the motherboard(about 1cm from the left edge of the board and 4 cm from the bottom edge of the board). It's much smaller than a standard desktop's cmos battery (2032). You should be able to pop the tiny 2 pin connection out of the tiny slot there to reset it.

What is the purpose of the switch on my camcorder battery?

This switch does not operate any function on the battery. It is simply used as a self reference tool. You can switch it to RED to tell yourself it’s charged and BLACK to tell yourself it’s un-charged.
