Hello there and welcome to fixya
This is a fairly common problem with washing machines, All washing machines have a drain pump that pumps out the water in the drum from the machine to the main drain that your hose connects to.
So what you need to do is to remove the pump and clean it out depends on the make and model of the machine there may be a bout 4 screws that hold on the pump cover or may just be a clip or 2 but once removed you can see the trash that is inside of it you will be amazed on how much change and odd things you will find in there ok? i will post some pictures of these pumps with dissassembly instructions it is really not that hard ok?
this one simply u unscrew the white piece and clean out

Is the drain hose and filter clear?
Testimonial: "Yes, ALL clear as it emptied on the wash cycle"
"Yes, ALL clear as it emptied on the wash cycle" I think the problem is in the computerized panel?

... how to repair your washing machine when the rinse cycle is slow to fill with water. ... I am about to get out my husband's tools and see if I can fix this! ... I put my washer on cold water to wash, the cold water flows in just fine.
Thanks Claude I solved the problem, it was the cold water inlet valve which I managed to replace.

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or back feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET valve to open up and allow water to flow into. If this does not happen then the voltage at the inlet valve must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.
If the water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. Once the water comes into the system the WATER LEVEL SENSOR - normally a pressure switch- must activate at the preset/chosen level to give the signal to the program controller to switch on the motor. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor for rinse and wash.
Finally after the wash the drain valve will be activated, the water is allowed to come in to rinse and then finally the dry spin with the drain valve/pump activated so as to drain off all the water from the clothes during the spin.
Make sure that a fault in any of the cycle will relate to the specified action, so check the command from the program module and then the executing device be it the valve or motor or pump.

Thank you for your reply, but the machine empties OK after the wash cycle but when it clicks onto the rinse cycle the water only trickles out instead of spraying its as though the valve is not opening enough?
