Motor stopped working. didn't fade just one day flicked the switch and nothing
If you remove the motor, which usually isn't to difficult to do. I would recommend plugging it in to one of your electrical outlets to check it. There is a possibility that the wiring is messed up or the plug in the housing went bad. If the motor doesn't work you need a new motor if it does work then you could try replacing the plug in the housing. All these parts are still available.

access the fan motor/blade
power off.
turn blade by hand if stuck fix stuck.
the motor can be bad, and be dead or stuck.
most times the wiring is ok, switch and connections, just the fan gets filthy and jams.

if you hot wire any fan, 3 things can happen.
it is dead.
the blades spin and cut you
the motor is bad and gets hot and burns you.
think first then act.
some fans in some vents by Broan. (facts)
use cap starts or a ballast (for motor)
if you hot wire those, the motor burns up now.
even on a new motor. (yah)
your manual shows its safe to hot wire it.
but I looked first. safe if not you getting blade cuts. etc.
