I got one without the hitch, too. Someone said that you could get a Solvit hitch for a dog trailer and it would fit. It's part # 69992 and I just ordered one from discountramps.com for 12.95 and free shipping. Don't know for sure if it fits yet, but it looks like the right thing and it is supposed to be a universal part.

The car which carried the transit transporter has been written off in an accident - is it possible to get another female attachment bracket for another car?

the 'female' attachment bracket seems to be either a 1.5" or 2" standard receiver hitch. which you can have installed at most auto or trailer rental shops, such as UHaul... note that you will need the adapter that came with your bike rack to use the 2" receiver hitch

I have been given a safe rider tag along trailer bike for my son to use. However the hitch is too large for the saddle pole. the asddle pole is 1nich and the hitch at it's tightest is 1.2inchs. I have...

A shim is exactly what you need. If you're bike shop can't/won't help you, trying talking to the old guys at your local hardware store. Not a big box store though...go to one of the small places that sells all the small odds-and-ends that the big box stores don't carry. Look for the oldest in the place and explain your predicament to him. He may be able to figure out a solution for you from what the store has in stock. And if you find the right guy, he'll even enjoy the challenge you brought him.

Any number of materials would probably work...a small section of pipe (metal/pvc/pex/abs), a steel collet, even a plumbing fitting! Just be sure to bring the bike (or just the saddle post) and the trailer bike.

Hope this helps.

I have an old hitch mount bike rack : Thule 515-0109 and a Trek women's touring bike. How do I mount the bike on the rack?????

You have to buy a women's bike adaptor, (about $30) and it is a bar that makes the frame like a mens frame. Bike shops sell them.

I just bought an InStep® Joyrider Bicycle Trailer and the photo's are not very good. When attached is the bike trailer hitch supposed to attach perpedicular to the bike and the spring bends to 90 deg....

The hitch part that fastens to your bike rear axle has 3 pieces, a dimpled washer which goes on first then the hitch plate and a pin that holds the trailer to the hitch. Take off the axle nut (15 mm wrench) install the dimpled washer it goes on with the 90 deg tang facing the bike wheel and in the channel so it can't rotate. Then put the hitch plate on, mine faced down for the correct height, line up the dimpled washer with the bumps on the hitch plate to locate it properly. reinstall the wheel nut and be sure to align the wheel so it runs straight and true (I oopsed on this the first time) then attach the trailer, it is a 90 deg hook-up then you simply put the the pin in and you are good to go. The unique hook-up makes it so smooth and dampened that you don't even know it's behind you. We really love ours!

From what I can tell the Schwinn Instep Trailer uses exactly the same hitch. Below are videos of someone with your trailer and another with the Instep (showing the entire install procedure) as well as a link to a manual that should apply at least to the hitch of your manual. You could also call Schwinn to verify.
